With the deepening of China’s curriculum reform,the cultivation objectives of the general high school curriculum have shifted to a literacybased approach,focusing on the development of students’ subject core literacies and the continuous improvement of their overall quality.The GCSE Chemistry Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition Revised 2020)clearly states that it advocates the creation of real-life problem situations,with chemistry experiments as the main focus and a variety of investigative activities.Project-based learning takes real-life problem situations as the starting point,completes project tasks in the form of group work and produces project results.POE strategies,Predict-Observe-Explain,are supplemented in project tasks with experimental investigations to promote the smooth progress of project tasks,and finally report and exchange project results,in the expectation of achieving The project is designed to improve students’ overall competence.This paper is based on constructivist learning theory,Bruner’s discovery learning theory,Dewey’s pragmatic education theory,Gardner’s multiple intelligences theory,conceptual transformation theory and observation penetration theory,and is conducted through literature analysis,questionnaires,interviews and experimental research.The design ideas and principles of project-based learning based on POE strategies are summarised and the project implementation process is determined:(1)identify the project theme and set project objectives;(2)develop project tasks based on real situations;(3)dismantle project tasks and design driving questions;(4)form learning groups and carry out project activities;(5)report project results and conduct multiple evaluations.On the basis of theoretical research,the questionnaire and interview outline related to the current situation of project-based learning based on POE strategy are prepared and relevant quality tests are conducted.Integrating the existing research,this thesis combines theory and practice and reasonably designs two typical teaching cases,"Exploring Iron Supplement" and "Transformation of Sulphur",taking two parallel classes of Lezhi Middle School in Sichuan Province as examples for teaching practice,through teachers’ interview results,students’ interview results and students’ test scores were analysed to obtain the corresponding research results.The study shows that project-based learning based on the POE strategy can stimulate students’ interest in learning chemistry and desire for experimental investigation,improve students’ experimental operation ability,cultivate students’ sense of innovation,and develop and enhance students’ core literacy and comprehensive ability in chemistry.Finally,reflections are made on the shortcomings in the practice process,and prospects are put forward for the research related to project-based learning based on POE strategies,which are expected to be improved in future teaching and provide some reference for front-line teaching practice.
