With the progress of the new curriculum reform, the basic education of our country has embraced the core literacy, which is developed from the double base and the three-dimensional target. In chemistry teaching, the research on core literacy presents diversified development, but there are only few textbook studies. The existing researches focus more on the qualitative description and lack the systematic analysis on the construction of activity columns. At the same time, while constructing framework, researchers only focus on a single dimension, and excessively explain the meaning of the core literacy, which is out of the new curriculum standards. After sorting out the development process of core literacy and summarizing the shortcomings of existing studies, this study follows curriculum standards and divides the core literacy into five dimensions, including macroscopic identification and microscopic analysis(Literacy 1),change concept and balance thought(literacy 2),evidence reasoning and model cognition(Literacy 3),scientific inquiry and innovation consciousness(literacy 4),scientific attitude and social responsibility(literacy 5).Then,according to the new curriculum standards and literature research results, the elements are disassembled and the levels are divided.Meanwhile, theme context, activity type and presentation together, constitute the analytical perspective of the representation mode. Finally, the analysis framework of this study is constructed from three aspects: element, level and representation. In view of the important status of activity columns in textbooks and the lack of related research, this study takes five high school chemistry textbooks published by Jiangsu Phoenix Education Press as the research object, takes activity columns as the analysis unit, and uses the analysis framework to analyze the overall situation. What’s more, this study compares the compulsory and selective compulsory part, analyzing the similarities and differences. Then, this study draws the following conclusions:(1)Element: Activity columns pay attention to the comprehensive development of core literacy and realize the integration of multiple elements of core literacy. The content of elements is diversified, and the construction of elements is distinctive.Generally, the element distribution and the construction law,in the compulsory and selective compulsory part, are all similar, but there are also obvious differences in some contents.(2)Level: Activity columns pay attention to the progressive development of core literacy, with all levels involved.Generally, the distribution is reasonable and the difficulty is moderate. The level of core literacy in the selective compulsory part is higher than that of the compulsory part, developed from the compulsory part.Different dimensions of core literacy has its own progressive laws.(3)Representation: Activity columns pay attention to the multiple representation of core literacy, with various ways. There are big differences in the activity type, between the part of compulsory and selective compulsory, and the distribution of different types of situational themes and presentation forms is close, with only some differences in minor components.(4)Feature: Activity columns pay attention to the diverse expression of core literacy, and the column type is diverse, giving full play to their teaching functions and comprehensively developing students’ core literacy. Finally, based on the research conclusions,it provides enlightenment and suggestions for teachers’ core literacy teaching and textbook activity column construction, and further anticipates the follow-up research.
