Psychological positive energy is a psychological symbol with symbolic meaning and belongs to the concept of psychology.However,systematic research is still lacking.This study focuses on the topic of psychological positive energy among university students,and conducts a more systematic and comprehensive study of psychological positive energy.This study consists of four sub-studies.Study 1 used a completely bottom-up qualitative study to explore the concept and structure of psychological positive energy among university students.Study 2 used the results of Study I as a theoretical basis,for the development of a reliable and validated Psychological Positive Energy Questionnaire for University Students.Study 3 used a cross-sectional relational study to explore the factors influencing psychological positive energy,and found that the psychological positive energy of university students is influenced by their developmental environment and personality traits.Study 4 used a cross-sectional relationship study to examine the relationship between psychological positive energy and mental health,and found that psychological positive energy of university students significantly predicted individual mental health.After discussing and analysing the findings,the study concluded the following:(1)This study defines positive psychological energy as a special psychological force that can have a positive effect on an individual’s mental health,social adaptation and self-development,and is a psychological system that includes positive cognition,emotion,behaviour and self,and is motivating and contagious.It has power attributes and infection.Power attributes means that it positively contributes to the formation of positive internal traits and to the external performance of the individual.Infection is its ability to enable positive transfer and interaction among individuals in groups through cognition,emotion and behaviour.(2)This study constructs a structure of psychological positive energy among university students,which contains four dimensions: positive cognitive orientation,positive emotional affect,positive behavioural style and positive self-development.(3)The Psychological Positive Energy Questionnaire for University Students,developed for this study,contains four factors: positive cognitive orientation,positive emotional affect,positive behavioural style and positive self-development.(4)The overall level of positive psychological energy of university students is good,and the level of positive psychological energy of university students varies with grade level,showing an increasing trend year by year from the first level to the fourth level,peaking at the fourth level and decreasing after entering the postgraduate stage.(5)Perceived social support,family satisfaction and trait self-control predict psychological positive energy in university students,the formation and development of psychological positive energy in university students is influenced by the developmental environment and personality traits.(6)Psychological positive energy is a protective factor for individual’s mental health.Psychological positive energy in university students positively predicts individuals’ sense of meaning in life and the use of cognitive reappraisal strategies,negatively predicts individuals’ anxiety,depression,reactive--proactive aggression,and university students with high levels of psychological positive energy perform better in terms of mental health than those with low levels.
