As the leader,the principal holds the lifeline of high-quality development in the kindergarten.For kindergarten principals,professional growth is the first priority for their survival and development,and it is an inevitable choice to realize their life value.The demand for professional development is the source and driving force for the professional growth of kindergarten principals,but unfortunately,the current demand for professional development of kindergarten principals is still in chaos,making it difficult to effectively support their professional growth.Therefore,it is urgent to directly address the pain points of the professional development needs of kindergarten principals and solve the difficulties in their professional growth.In the existing studies,researchers mostly use field research,interview,case analysis and other research methods to explore the influencing factors of kindergarten principals’ professional development needs.Among them,personal factors such as age,gender,and character have the greatest impact on the professional development needs of kindergarten principals.Based on Maslow’s needs theory,career construction theory and field theory,this study analyzes the differences in demography variables of kindergarten principals’ professional development needs,and explores the problems of kindergarten principals’ professional development needs.Researchers processed the questionnaire using the Questionnaire Star platform and randomly distributed questionnaires to kindergarten principals in Hubei Province using public social media platforms such as We Chat and QQ.A total of 110 valid questionnaires were collected.At the same time,the researchers selected six kindergarten principals as the interviewees of this study based on multiple criteria such as length of service and nature of the unit,helping the researchers to gain a deeper understanding of the professional growth needs of kindergarten principals.Using mathematical statistics,qualitative analysis and other research methods to process and analyze the collected data and information,it is found that the nature of kindergarten,the length of tenure of the head of kindergarten,the length of time of the head of kindergarten’s work input and distribution,and other factors affect the professional development needs of the head of kindergarten;At the same time,the study also found that the primary motivation for the professional development needs of kindergarten principals is kindergarten development,and the main obstacle is administrative pressure.The above results indicate that there are currently problems with biased value orientation,lack of subjectivity,and weak sustainability in the professional development needs of kindergarten principals.From the perspective of stimulating the internal drive of the kindergarten head,promoting the kindergarten head to refine practical wisdom and helping the kindergarten head to develop for life,it is suggested that the professional development needs of the kindergarten head should adhere to the principle of the unity of tool rationality and value rationality,the unity of acquisition learning and creative learning,and the unity of kindergarten development and personal development,so as to release the effective demand for the professional development of the kindergarten head and promote the professional growth of the kindergarten head.
