In the new curriculum reform,it is proposed to change the traditional secondary school chemistry teaching mode and gradually move towards experimental teaching.As the soul of chemistry subject,experiment can serve as the main channel to cultivate students’ manipulative ability and enhance their subject knowledge.High schools in remote areas,due to their remote location and economic backwardness,lack of laboratory equipment in schools,coupled with some special factors,lead to a single teaching method,so that students are not exposed to experiments and are not interested in chemistry classes and have low operational ability.In order to solve the above problems,this study will use virtual experiments to investigate the chemistry teaching mode.In this study,the current situation of the application of virtual experiments in high school chemistry teaching at home and abroad is firstly reviewed and analyzed,and the teaching model research is carried out based on constructivism,cognitive learning,information technology and curriculum integration and other related theories.Secondly,we classify and select the teaching contents suitable for virtual experiments in Compulsory 1 and Elective 3 of high school chemistry,and design a teaching model of high school chemistry based on virtual experiments in combination with the virtual experimental teaching environment.Based on this teaching model,two teaching cases of "Sulfur and Sulfur Dioxide" and "Principles of Tectonics and Electron Displacement" were designed,among which "Sulfur and Sulfur Dioxide" was an experimental teaching case and "Principles of Tectonics and Electron Displacement" was a non-experimental teaching case.For these two teaching cases,two parallel classes were selected as experimental and control classes,and the teaching effects under different teaching methods were analyzed.From the classroom and after-class performance of the students in the experimental and control classes,as well as the comprehensive content of the interviews of the students in the control class,the students in the experimental class were more motivated in class and more interested in learning chemistry;from the analysis of the grades of the students in the experimental and control classes,the grades of the students in the experimental class improved significantly after teaching with the virtual experiment software.Therefore,the application of virtual experiments in high school chemistry teaching is very effective,and it can solve the problems existing in remote areas in chemistry teaching.The use of virtual experiments can improve students’ interest in learning chemistry to a certain extent and also enable them to master chemistry knowledge better.
