With the deepening of the research on early reading from the 1990 s to the present,the center of early reading activities in kindergartens has gradually shifted from the learning and decoding of language elements to the comprehension and construction of the meaning of reading materials.As a teaching method that focuses on the process,creative creation and critical thinking,drama in education undoubtedly suits well the current concept of early reading.In light of this,this study,starting from the real problems in early reading practice and taking children and teachers from top classes of kindergarten as the research objects,implemented two rounds of action research to explore in practice the basic model in which drama in education gets integrated into early reading activities in kindergartens.The study reached the following conclusions.First,in terms of structural framework: as revealed by the study,drama in education should be integrated into early reading activities in kindergartens with two to three sub-activities,which could include three parts,namely,the establishment of a worldview in the drama,the experience and exploration of the "worldview",and the comprehension of the content in the picture book;second,in terms of activity procedures: specifically for the procedures of individual sub-activities,they can be carried out effectively through the process of initiation(to engage children into the setting of the drama),experience(to set tasks and create conflicts to provoke children to think),and conclusion(to encourage children to express and discuss);third,in terms of organizational strategies:the application of appropriate drama strategies and utilization of different levels of meaning can help optimize the quality of the activities.
