The study analyzes the features of technical and vocational education and training(TVET)in Malawi in relation to its design and implementation with those in China.Case study research was conducted in order to explore the gaps that exist in the implementation of the TVET program in Malawi and China.Data were collected using surveys,interviews,observation,review of documentation and collection of physical artifacts.The target population of the study included participants ranging from trainers,apprentices,industry supervisors,training institutions and organizations involved in supporting TVET training in both countries.Data of the study was mainly collected through document analysis,including published statistics from national and international organizations such as UNESCO,World Bank,UNICEF,and local NGOs,government publications,research reports and other articles on TVET in Malawi and China.Theory of change was applied during data analysis as the two countries do not meet the required institutional and cultural as well as economic and industrial context similarities.The study would help both countries to create a national TVET enabling environment,including a conductive policy framework and quality assurance mechanisms,for TVET to contribute effectively to their economic and industrial transformation;to enable the TEVET Authority to help TVET institutions to institutionalize their linkages with industry;to develop a spirit of forward thinking and adapt their programs to respond to the changing skills needs;to use technology in the delivery of training;to train their teachers to upgrade their technical knowledge and practical skills and to promote student-centered teaching approach.The aim is to ensure that high-quality TVET training programs are available for all,in line with the emphasis of SDG 4.The sections covered in this study include introduction,background,problem statement,literature review,methodology,findings,recommendations and conclusion. |
