Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,China has entered a stage of modern governance, and issues such as the construction of child friendly cities and social education have been increasingly valued.Accordingly, various community education places have sprung up,such as community schools, community learning centers, and the "community complex building" that this study focuses on have become important places for children to learn and live outside school.Due to the complex functions and structures of such places,as well as the diverse service populations, further exploration is needed to determine whether they truly contribute to the healthy growth of children and whether they can truly promote and support children’s informal learning.Based on this, this study takes the emerging "community complex building" as the object to explore the participation status and effectiveness of children’s informal learning in the "community complex building";What kind of support, characteristics, and problems do these emerging community functional entities provide for children’s informal learning,in order to provide general suggestions and opinions on the participation and support of children’s informal learning in similar community complexes and even all communities. This study is based on informal learning theory and social support theory as the theoretical foundation and analytical framework, with the X community complex in Hangzhou as the key research object.Field research methods are used, and field data is collected at multiple time points over two years using literature analysis, participatory observation, and interview methods. The research subjects include various levels of staff in the town, street, and community where the social complex is located,as well as school teachers and students, staff of public welfare organizations,as well as eligible children and parents within and outside the community. The research finds that: first, children’s informal learning activities in the community complex buildings are rich and diverse, mainly including six types of activities: traditional culture, skill creation, physical and mental health, voluntary activities, social practice and reading learning, involving public welfare courses, talent associations, celebration activities, fun games, volunteer activities, social practice and research, and library learning. These activities demonstrate positive significance, such as helping to enhance children’s motivation to participate in informal learning, promoting their comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor,as well as promoting friendly care and sense of responsibility for children in the local community. At the same time, they enhance intergenerational communication and a sense of belonging among community members.Secondly, informal learning in children’s community participation has received active support from the local community, including community network support, public behavior support, and community resource support. In the support of community networks,a "ripple shaped" value oriented circle centered on children has been formed among subjects, with a governance approach that combines upper and lower levels, and a "strong connection" cooperation approach; In the support of public behavior, the standardized guidance of institutional factors, the spontaneous motivation of cultural factors, and the empowerment and improvement of technical factors complement each other, providing strong community support and security forces;Community resource support mainly includes "revitalizing" basic resources and developing innovative resources, providing sufficient resource guarantees for children’s community participation.Overall, the community currently supports the establishment of an ecosystem with rich levels, intimate relationships, diverse interactions, diverse resources, and harmonious integration. In terms of research conclusions, this study suggests that the experience in building the educational function of X community complex building indicates that: firstly, informal learning in children’s community participation is of great significance because it helps to enhance children’s ontological value, promote children’s return from "linear time" to "life time",stimulate children’s conscious and spontaneous learning awareness, and even help community activities surpass commercial logic with educational logic,Make the community a living and learning space shared and nurtured by all residents.Secondly,in order to fully utilize the functions of community sports personnel, the following aspects can be emphasized: fully leverage the leading role of community party teams, and make children’s community participation more organized and institutionalized;Adhering to the stance of children, constructing a social support network of multi-party co construction, resource integration, and mutual benefit and mutual assistance;Fully leverage the functional aggregation advantages of community complexe buildings, and build them into a cultural and spiritual home for children and even all groups of people. All age groups can activate their lives, enjoy services, and live and work in peace and contentment as a learning center.
