The Geography Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022Edition)requires that teachers should make full use of students’ existing life experiences and knowledge of current hotspots to stimulate students’ enthusiasm for learning and help them actively explore knowledge through the guidance of concrete examples,while local geography curriculum resources are characterized by their living,local and practical nature.Applying these resources to junior high school geography teaching can stimulate students’ interest in learning,deepen their understanding of geographic knowledge,and motivate them to apply what they have learned to real life,thus cultivating their sense of home and country and improving their geographic practical skills.Xianfeng County is located in the eastern part of Wuling Mountain,with rich natural and humanistic local geography curriculum resources,but teachers do not apply them much in the classroom.Therefore,the research of this thesis has important practical significance to promote the development of the native geography curriculum resources in Xianfeng County and the development of local geography education.Taking Xianfeng County as an example,the literature method and field survey method were used to investigate,organize and summarize the local geography curriculum resources in Xianfeng County from both natural and human aspects;Through questionnaire survey and statistical analysis method,five secondary schools in Xianfeng County were used as examples to investigate the current situation of developing and utilizing native geography curriculum resources in Xianfeng County,and it was found that there were problems such as uncoordinated gender ratio of teachers,unbalanced age structure,weak subject specialization,low education level,and teachers’ unfamiliarity with the geographical environment of Xianfeng County in developing native geography curriculum resources in Xianfeng County;There are some problems in the application process,such as the gap between awareness and practice,the pressure of teaching,the insufficient use of resources,and the lack of practice in vernacular geography.In response to the above problems,the following suggestions were made: internship gender balance policy,establishment of a system to bring in the old with the new,strengthening the training and management of professional geography teachers,improving the academic level and professional quality of the teaching force,and schools and educational authorities should strengthen the training and publicity for teachers.The education department should increase support and investment in local geography education in Xianfeng County,improve teachers’ awareness and ability of using local geography resources,and encourage them to make full use of local geography resources in classroom teaching.Finally,specific cases of development and utilization are given from three aspects: introduction,teaching design,and practical activities of local geography,combined with the inducted and organized local geography curriculum resources.It is hoped that it can provide reference for the development of local geography curriculum resources in Xianfeng County and even other regions,provide certain teaching reference for the majority of grassroots teachers,and improve the level of geography education in Xianfeng County.
