Mobile phone dependence is a psychological behaviour that affects the physiological,psychological,life and behavioural aspects of a mobile phone user through excessive use of the phone.Over~dependence on mobile phones will bring about various adverse effects to young people,which requires them to enjoy the convenience of mobile phones while trying to avoid the harmful effects of mobile phones and to use them appropriately.Therefore,this study aims to understand the current situation of mobile phone dependence among junior high school students and its influencing factors,and to explore the feasible operation to reduce the mobile phone dependence behaviour of junior high school students under the perspective of positive psychology.In this study,45 first~year students from a secondary school affiliated to Nanchang City,Jiangxi Province,were enrolled voluntarily in this group counselling by means of a pre/post~test comparison study.The 45 students were randomly divided into an experimental group,a placebo group and a control group,with 15 students in each group.The experimental design was based on a three~group pre~post test with the experimental group,the placebo group and the control group.10 sessions of group counselling were conducted and recorded for 90 minutes each.The placebo group was given 10 sessions of mental health education sessions and the control group was given no intervention.The experimental effect of the dependent variable was measured based on the pre and post test scores of the subjects on the Smartphone Dependence Scale to test the effect of the group counselling intervention on mobile phone dependence among junior high school students.The findings of this study were.(1)Before the intervention,there was no significant difference in the level of mobile phone dependence between the experimental group,the placebo group and the control group(P>0.05)(2)After the intervention,there was a significant difference in the level of mobile phone dependence between the experimental group and the placebo group,and between the experimental group and the control group(p<0.01),while there was no significant difference between the placebo group and the control group(p>0.05)(3)There was a significant difference in the level of mobile phone dependence before and after the intervention in the experimental group(p<0.01)(4)There was no significant difference in the level of mobile phone dependence in the placebo group before and after the intervention(p>0.05)(5)There was no significant difference in the level of mobile phone dependence in the control group before and after the intervention(p>0.05)This study concludes that targeted group counselling can significantly reduce mobile phone dependence among junior high school students. |
