The era of knowledge economy has put forward new requirements for talent development, and people must develop key competencies and core literacies and change from monolithic talents to complex talents as soon as possible. This requires school education to change the traditional teaching mode and update the outdated education concept,so the call for changing the traditional teaching design and studying new teaching methods is increasing day by day.The traditional narrative writing teaching design lacks attraction and fails to ignite students’ enthusiasm for writing, and many students write purely by fabrication. This study will construct a learning environment design model for narrative writing in middle school based on Jonathan’s learning environment design theory in order to change the traditional teaching model of narrative writing and improve students’ narrative writing ability. The paper firstly compares the relevant requirements for narrative writing in the Compulsory Education Language Curriculum Standards(2022 edition)and the distribution of narrative reading and writing tasks in the unified version of middle school language textbooks.Secondly, the current situation of teaching narrative writing in junior high school was investigated by using student questionnaires and teacher interviews. The design model of the middle school narrative writing learning environment was constructed based on Jonathan’s learning environment design theory, and the design points and operation mechanism of the model were explained in the context of the unified middle school language textbook and the American writing textbook,Writer’s Choice. The model is then applied to the teaching design of the second unit of writing topic "Learning to remember" in the first book of the seventh grade of the unified version of the middle school language textbook, and the "most beautiful class" is designed to support the selection of the "most beautiful family" as the writing task context. In the case, the multimedia resources of the movie "Grandma’s House" were designed, and the cognitive tools such as the "cluster chart" strategy scaffold, the evaluation scale of the selected works of the "most beautiful family" and the proofreading reference sheet were designed to establish a writing community among teachers, students and parents. Finally, the author used the case "Learning to Remember" implemented during her internship in a middle school and reflected on the model of narrative writing learning environment design for middle school based on the actual teaching results. The actual results of the case implementation demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the model of narrative writing learning environment design. The middle school narrative writing learning environment design model pays full attention to the process of writing, effectively supports students’ narrative writing, highlights the students’ main position, and to some extent, shifts the narrative writing classroom from "teacher-centered" to "student-centered " The teacher-centered classroom is now student-centered.However,the narrative writing learning environment design model also has certain limitations, mainly in the form of case implementation takes too long. The author will further explore how to shorten the number of class hours to achieve the same teaching effect when she arrives at her workplace.
