| The "2017 National Curriculum Standards for High School Biology(Revised in 2020)" clearly states that the purpose of biology education in China should be to develop students’ core competencies in the subject.Deep learning is not only an effective way to enhance students’ biology competency,but also a key driver for high-quality education.However,many frontline teachers are familiar with deep learning,but do not know how to effectively promote it in actual high school biology classrooms.The 5E teaching model,developed based on constructivist learning theory,emphasizes student-centered learning with teachers as guides,emphasizing students’ autonomous construction and profound understanding of scientific concepts,focusing on the learning process,knowledge innovation,and practical application.This is in line with the idea of deep learning.Therefore,it is necessary to study whether the 5E teaching model can promote students’ deep learning in biology,which can enrich the teaching modes to promote deep learning and provide practical guidance for frontline teachers to carry out deep classroom teaching.This article uses research methods such as literature review,questionnaire survey,interview,and experimental research,based on constructivist learning theory,discovery learning theory,and other theories.Firstly,the concepts,connotations,and characteristics of the5 E teaching model and deep learning are summarized through a review of relevant domestic and foreign literature,and the reasons why the 5E teaching model can promote deep learning are analyzed.Secondly,through the results of questionnaire surveys and teacher interviews,the deep learning level of high school biology students,influencing factors,and teachers’ acceptance of using the 5E teaching model to carry out deep teaching,implementation suggestions,etc.are investigated,providing reference for formulating the implementation process and teaching strategies of the 5E teaching model to promote deep learning.Finally,two classes with similar deep learning levels and academic performance are selected as the research subjects,and some chapters in the compulsory biology textbook "Molecules and Cells" are used as teaching content for classroom practice.Through survey questionnaires,paper-and-pencil tests,and student interviews,the effect of the 5E teaching model on promoting high school students’ deep learning in biology is analyzed.The results of practical research show that:(1)The 5E teaching model effectively enhances students’ deep learning levels.Specifically,students’ knowledge construction,integration,transfer and application,communication and cooperation abilities are significantly improved,and their internal learning motivation,self-reflection and summary consciousness are significantly enhanced.Critical thinking is significantly developed,but the effect on cultivating innovative thinking is not obvious.(2)The 5E teaching model significantly improves students’ cognitive levels and academic performance in application,analysis,evaluation,and creation levels.Overall,the 5E teaching model can promote high school students’ deep learning in biology to some extent. |
