The quality of employment determines the well-being of workers. It is an important goal of economic and social development. The fifth plenary session of the19 th Central Committee of the CPC put forward the goal of "Achieving higher quality and fuller employment".We should not only pay attention to the employment rate, but also pay attention to the employment quality of people. With the rapid development of information technology, information literacy has become the necessary literacy of the labor force in the information age. Therefore, under the background of the increasing level of information in the economic society, this paper aims to explore the impact of information literacy on the quality of employment. This paper uses data from the 2017 China General Social Survey(CGSS).This paper studies the effect of information literacy on the quality of employment.First, factor analysis and statistical analysis were carried out on the samples.Eight indexes were selected to construct information literacy, and the comprehensive scores of information literacy were calculated.Furthermore, the information literacy and employment quality of workers were analyzed statistically. Then, this paper constructed the econometric model for empirical analysis.Firstly,OLS model was used to regression the three dimensions of employment quality. At the same time,Tobit model was used to regress the income dimension,OPROBIT model was used to regress the social insurance and work autonomy dimension.Secondly, the instrumental variable method was used to test the endogeneity of the model.A two-stage least squares and CMP model were used to address the endogenous problem of reverse causation.Thirdly,we test the robustness.Several new indexes were added to reconstruct the factor composite score, and explanatory variables were replaced to test whether the results were robust and reliable. Finally,we explored the heterogeneity of the impact of information literacy on employment quality in different educational levels, gender and regional groups. The results of the analysis led to the following conclusions: First, the promotion of information literacy has significant positive effects on the three dimensions of employment quality. In other words, high information literacy can lead to high quality of employment.Second,we selected "The number of devices that individuals have access to the internet" as a tool variable. After using the instrumental variables, the results were consistent with those of the basic regression. And because of the endogeneity of the model, the basic regression underestimates the impact of information literacy on the three dimensions of employment quality.Third,we added some new indicators to reconstruct the factor comprehensive score. After replacing the explanatory variables, the robustness of the above conclusions was verified. In addition, further research showed that the impact of information literacy on employment quality is heterogeneous among different educational levels, gender and regional groups. In order to improve the employment quality of workers, this paper puts forward a series of policy recommendations.First,we should pay attention to network construction. We should speed up the construction of new information infrastructure in all regions, especially the construction of 4G/5G base stations and data centers.Second,we must promote the optimization of the Internet Information Service Platform.Make Employment Service informationization, intellectualization, and realize the accurate push of employment information.Thirdly,we must pay attention to the cultivation of residents’ information literacy, especially to those with low education level. We should strengthen the positive role of information literacy through a variety of ways to achieve the development goals of higher quality and fuller employment.
