| China’s family fertility behavior changes faster than most countries in the world, and the aging of the population is a serious situation. The academic circle has basically reached a consensus that the long-term low fertility level is not conducive to the sustainable development of national economy and society,so the issue of the low fertility level has aroused wide attention from all walks of life. Some studies think that the improvement of income level plays an important role in the transformation of family birth behavior, but its internal mechanism and influence direction are not clear yet.It is of great importance and urgency to deeply reveal the internal mechanism of the income factor affecting the change of family fertility behavior, which is conducive to promoting the government to improve the existing fertility support policies and boost the current low fertility level.Firstly, this paper reviews the existing research results on the influence of income factors on the change of family reproductive behavior, and finds that absolute income and relative income are important factors affecting the change of family reproductive behavior.Secondly, the fertility game matrix is constructed, and the cost-benefit theory,r-K theory and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory are integrated into the construction of fertility game matrix. The benefits, costs and policy environment of family fertility behavior are reflected in the profit and loss changes of the fertility game model, and the Nash equilibrium of the game matrix is solved based on the scribing method, and the internal mechanism affecting the change of family fertility behavior is deduced.According to the mechanism study, when the absolute income increases and the relative income gap widens, the demand level of Chinese families gradually increases from the low physiological and security needs to the higher demand level of social interaction, respect and personal value realization. In the game analysis, the change of the profit and loss value of family fertility behavior leads to the change of the optimal family fertility strategy and the Nash equilibrium of social fertility in the theoretical model, which is reflected in the general transformation of people’s fertility concept and fertility behavior in reality. In this process, the second-level indicators of income factors have different mechanisms of action on the change of family reproductive behavior.Absolute income affects reproductive behavior by influencing the level of family needs, while relative income promotes the change of reproductive behavior by changing the family’s reproductive concept. In general, income factors affect family fertility behavior by changing family fertility strategy. In order to test the research hypothesis that income factors affect the change of family reproductive behavior,to test whether the influence of each secondary index of income on family reproductive behavior is statistically significant.Based on CGSS2021 data,Logit multivariate sort selection model was used to analyze the effects of income secondary indicators on the change of Chinese family reproductive behavior. The empirical study shows that with the increase of absolute family income level and the widening of relative income gap,Chinese families tend to have fewer children; And families with optimistic relative income expectations tend to have more children.Chinese families with increasing absolute income and relative income tend to have fewer children, while families with expected future relative income improvement tend to have more children, which verifies the hypothesis to some extent. The article holds that, through the establishment of public service system of fertility support and the construction of fertility culture in the new era adapted to the higher demand level,we can provide inclusive and socialized fertility support for Chinese families, mobilize the enthusiasm of Chinese families to give birth, and improve the fertility level of families. |
