As urbanization accelerates and the aging of society’s population intensifies, the lower-aged elderly account for an increasing proportion of China’s elderly population. As a huge group of people who are experiencing a new stage of physical function decline, family mission completion and social identity transformation, the lives of the lower-aged elderly have changed dramatically and new needs have arisen. Most of the urban elderly are able to maintain good economic conditions after retirement, and their survival needs can be basically satisfied. As the modern family structure is gradually changing to miniaturization, young people are busy with their careers, and their support for the elderly is only material support, but lack of spiritual care and communication, the lack of spiritual needs is becoming an important problem for the urban elderly of low age, which requires social work professional organizations to play a complementary role.Spiritual comfort is a comforting service to meet the spiritual needs of the elderly, integrate various resources, and alleviate the distress of the elderly in their later life, which has a better effect on meeting the spiritual needs of the urban elderly of lower age.In a visit to community X in Chongqing, the author found that there are spiritual comfort needs of emotion, interpersonal relationship, recreation and self-development for the low-aged elderly in this community, among which Y is particularly prominent. Therefore, with the consent of the client, the author used her as the study subject and used a case work approach to provide intervention services for her, combining Alderfer’s hierarchy of needs theory. The aim was to enhance the client’s comfort at home, cultivate her hobbies and interests, improve her ability to use her smartphone, encourage her to participate in social interactions and broaden her interpersonal relationships, and finally learn to regulate her emotions and improve her satisfaction and happiness. After the four aspects of service, the case is successfully closed through process and result evaluation, and the pre-defined work objectives are achieved. Finally, the following conclusions and reflections were drawn: First, the acceptance of spiritual comfort support services among the families of offenders among the elderly in the lower age group was slow.Secondly, female elderly are more specific in terms of spiritual comfort needs.Third, tapping the sources of spiritual comfort needs of the elderly in various aspects is conducive to broadening the spiritual comfort support services.Fourth, the sustainable supply of spiritual comfort services depends on the long-term development of community self-organized groups. |
