Research On The Employment Effect Of The "One Belt One Road" Initiative

Since the 18th Party Congress,the issue of employment has become a key concern for the whole Party and the country,and the Party and the State have made many important statements about employment growth and high-quality employment.General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in the report of the 20th Party Congress that "we must insist on safeguarding and improving people’s livelihood in the course of development,encourage common struggle to create a better life,and continuously realise people’s aspiration for a better life." Employment is the greatest livelihood of the people,and it is the primary task of the "Six Stabilities" and the "Six Guarantees",which is related to the people’s livelihood.2023 is affected by the domestic and international economic situation and the new pneumonia epidemic,the employment rate is low,and the job market continues to be depressed."The " One Belt,One Road " initiative was first proposed in 2013 and has received positive responses from countries and regions along the route.The report of the 20th Party Congress states that " we will promote the high-quality development of the ’One Belt,One Road’ "." Since its inception,the Belt and Road Initiative has played a positive role in terms of economic growth and foreign trade,and has also shown significant impact in terms of labour absorption and job creation.This paper empirically examines the employment effects of the Belt and Road Initiative in China,based on the measurement and observation of employment intensity over the period 2008-2020,using the double difference method to consider the impact of policy shocks introduced by the Initiative,and using macroeconomic indicators from the China Urban Database.The study finds that: "The Belt and Road Initiative" has generated employment effects in China.The study finds that the Belt and Road Initiative is a macroeconomic policy that has significantly boosted employment in China,generating a positive employment effect.The mechanism test shows that the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative can promote the development of the domestic financial market and the increase of financial lending business,i.e.it has a financial development effect,which in turn promotes the increase of domestic employment;at the same time,the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative At the same time,the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative can lead to the improvement of network infrastructure,i.e.an internet development effect,which in turn promotes employment.Further,in the heterogeneity analysis,it is found that the Belt and Road Initiative has a more pronounced effect on employment in central regions,highly marketable regions and small and medium-sized cities.Overall,the Belt and Road Initiative has positive employment effects,and this paper proposes a series of policy recommendations in this regard.Firstly,the employment effects of the Belt and Road Initiative should be fully utilised,and cities across the country should be encouraged to participate in the construction of the Belt and Road platform.Secondly,the financial development mechanism and the internet development mechanism should be opened up to further exploit the employment effects of the Belt and Road Initiative.Thirdly,in the process of implementing the Belt and Road Initiative,attention should be paid to local conditions,and the construction of the Belt and Road should be vigorously promoted in central regions,high-market areas and small and medium-sized cities.At the same time,it is important to provide solid and reliable policy guarantees for the further implementation and deepening of the Belt and Road Initiative.In the context of the Belt and Road Initiative,cities need to seize the important opportunity of economic and trade exchanges and cooperation with countries along the route and give full play to the positive effects of the Belt and Road Initiative in promoting employment,so as to "stabilise"employment.In the context of the Belt and Road construction,cities need to seize the important opportunities for economic and trade exchanges and cooperation with countries along the route,and give full play to the positive effects of the Belt and Road initiative in promoting employment,so as to make continuous progress towards the goal of "stable employment.
