In April 2022,the Ministry of Education issued the “Biology Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)”,which stipulated the main content of core competencies in the field of biology.Scientific thinking is a curriculum resource that is more in line with biology as a natural discipline.Integrating the Outcomes Based Education(OBE)concept into the cultivation of scientific thinking among junior high school students can help teachers guide students towards learning outcomes based on established goals.The teaching model based on this concept can help teachers reverse design teaching activities by improving students’ scientific thinking ability,so that each teaching link serves the teaching purpose,effectively improving the scientific thinking ability of middle school students.This article mainly uses literature research,questionnaire survey,and case study methods to investigate the penetration of the OBE concept in middle school biology teaching related to scientific thinking.Firstly,through a questionnaire survey,it was found that most teachers and students believe that biology teaching is highly related to the cultivation of students’ scientific thinking ability.In the teaching goal of cultivating students’ scientific thinking,teachers have high subjective initiative,but lack effective teaching methods.The students’ scientific thinking achievement test is based on Professor Hu Wenping’s structural model of scientific thinking ability.The average score of the test is 73 points(out of 100points),which has great room for improvement.The standard deviation is 14 far more than 1,indicating that there are large differences in scientific thinking ability among students,and the gap is far from the requirements of the curriculum standards.Secondly,51 students from Class 4,Grade 8 of Tianjiabing Experimental High School in Rizhao City were selected as the teaching subjects for teaching practice.Select the four themed courses(“Fish,” “The Role of Animals in the Biosphere,” “Human Utilization of Bacteria and Fungi,” and “Viruses”)from the eighth grade first volume of junior high school biology in the People’s Education Press as representatives,and incorporate the OBE concept for teaching design.Through assessment and evaluation of students’ scientific thinking ability,it was found that their evaluation scores gradually improved after four classes,with the section on "Human Utilization of Bacteria and Fungi" being an experimental course,which greatly improved students’ scientific thinking ability.Overall,the application of OBE concept in biology teaching can effectively enhance students’ scientific thinking ability and is more suitable for biology experimental courses.Research has shown that teachers setting teaching objectives and refining the goal of enhancing scientific thinking into each teaching task in teaching design can help students clarify learning objectives and cultivate them,stimulate their interest and enthusiasm in learning,and more efficiently achieve the scientific thinking ability required by the new curriculum standards.In short,integrating the OBE concept into junior high school biology classrooms can enhance students’ scientific thinking ability,improve the quality of student training,and have certain application value for teachers in teaching reform research.
