| The improvement of teachers’ evaluation competency is a requirement of educational evaluation policy,smart learning environment,teachers’ professional competency development and information science and technology teaching.The smart learning environment is gradually becoming the main feature of education modernization,the number of county junior high school information science and technology teachers accounts for37.18% of the number of junior high school information science and technology teachers in China,and they bear or will bear the heavy responsibility of cultivating students’ information literacy in the smart environment,and the level of teachers’ evaluation competency in the smart environment will directly affect the quality of information science and technology pedagogy in this environment.The prerequisite for conducting targeted evaluation competency development is to understand the status quo of teachers’ evaluation competency.In this investigation,in order to understand the status quo of evaluation competency in the smart environment of county junior high school information science and technology teachers,a questionnaire on the evaluation competency of county junior high school information science and technology teachers in the smart environment was prepared and distributed from four dimensions: competency in understanding evaluation,competency in designing evaluation,competency in implementing evaluation,and competency in meta-evaluation.Teacher interviews were conducted in terms of the situation of teaching and evaluation of information science and technology courses,information science and technology teachers’ expectations of schools and administrators and training activities,analysis of factors influencing teachers’ evaluation competency in the smart environment and preliminary suggestions based on this.The results of the survey showed that the overall level of evaluation competency in the smart environment of the county junior high school information science and technology teachers was moderately high(mean value of 3.55).There were differences in performance in different dimensions: the competency in understanding evaluation(mean value of 3.19)and designing evaluation(mean value of 3.77)were at the medium level,the competency in implementing evaluation(mean value of 2.91)was at the lowest level,and the competency in meta-evaluation(mean value of 4.08)was at the highest level.The mean value of evaluation competency of teachers who attended post-service training was 0.44 higher than that of teachers who did not attend training,teachers who studied IT-related courses were 0.43,0.11,0.08,0.08 and 0.10 higher than that of teachers who did not study related courses,and the mean value of teachers who paid attention to policy documents was 0.48 higher than that of teachers who did not.However,there was no difference in the evaluation competency of teachers who graduated from teacher training versus non-teacher training and the dual factor of following/not following policy documents and knowing/not knowing about technology development.Further interviews were conducted with four junior high school information science and technology teachers to analyze the influencing factors of evaluation competency from both internal and external aspects: including internal factors such as teachers’ understanding of digital literacy,work pressure,and learning effectiveness of IT-related knowledge,and external factors such as the relevance of post-service training activities and school support for smart technology applications.Accordingly,several preliminary suggestions are proposed,such as "teachers should actively try to carry out practical activities of evaluation in a smart environment in their own disciplines and actively explore the application strategies of smart technology in evaluation.Pre-service training institutions should set up courses related to smart technology and constantly update the course contents based on the blended learning environment,carry out practical activities for the development of evaluation competency in a smart environment in the comprehensive practice course of teacher education,and carry out evaluation case observation activities in a smart environment during the practical steps.Post-service training should be continually updated with evaluation-related training content in a smart environment,and targeted training should be provided to novice and teachers who are not graduates from IT(or related)disciplines."... |
