In the early stage of taekwondo training, many coaches and scholars generally ignored the training of athletes ’ balance ability, and there were few studies on balance ability training. However, the function of suspension training is in line with the needs of athletes to improve their balance ability and physical control ability. In this study, the influence of 8-week suspension training on the balance ability of male taekwondo athletes was taken as the research object.By using the methods of literature, interview, mathematical statistics and experiment, the test indexes such as closed-eye single-foot standing,eight-point star offset balance and Biodex balance system were set as evaluation indexes.Sixteen male taekwondo athletes from taekwondo team of competitive sports school of Xi ’an Institute of Physical Education were selected as experimental subjects.By comparing with traditional strength training, the influence of suspension training on the balance ability of male taekwondo athletes before and after the experiment was analyzed. The following results are obtained:(1)Pre-test of the two groups standing on one foot with eyes closed showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups. After 8 weeks of suspension training intervention, the data of left foot support and right foot support standing with eyes closed in the experimental group were significantly improved(P <0.01),but not significantly improved in the control group(P > 0.05).(2)Pre-test of eight-point star migration balancing(SEBT)and Biodex balancing system was conducted on the two groups, and the results showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups. After 8 weeks of suspension training intervention, the 1-8 points and overall stability index of left foot support in the experimental group were significantly improved(P < 0.01),and the anteroposteric stability index and left-right stability index of left foot support in the experimental group were significantly improved(P < 0.05).The 1-3 points and 5-8 points of the right foot support in the experimental group,as well as the overall stability index, forward and backward, left and right stability index were significantly improved(P <0.01),the 4 points of the right foot support in the experimental group were significantly improved(P < 0.05).In the control group, the left foot support was significantly improved at 1 point(< 0.01)and at 3-6 points(P < 0.05),but the other improvements were not significant(P > 0.05).In the control group, the right foot support was significantly improved at 3 and 5 points(P < 0.05),while the other 6points and the Biodex balance system were not significantly improved(P > 0.05).(3)Pre-test of 1min controlled leg transverse kick and 10 s whirlwind kick was conducted on the two groups, and the results showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups. After 8 weeks of suspension training intervention, the number of movements completed by the left foot support, the right foot support of1 min controlled leg cross kick and 10 s whirlwind kick were significantly increased(P< 0.01).In the control group, the 10 s whirlwind kick supported by the right foot was significantly improved(P < 0.05),while the others were not significantly improved(P > 0.05).The following conclusions are drawn:(1)Both the 8-week suspension training intervention and the traditional strength training intervention can improve the balance ability of male taekwondo athletes.(2)The 8-week suspension training intervention can improve the static balance ability of male taekwondo athletes better than the traditional strength training intervention.(3)Compared with traditional strength training intervention,8-week suspension training intervention can better improve the dynamic balance ability of male taekwondo athletes.(4)Compared with the traditional strength training intervention, the 8-week suspension training intervention can better improve the special technical ability of the male taekwondo athletes in the controlled leg cross kick and whirlwind kick.
