The "Compulsory Education Information Technology Curriculum Standards(2022Edition)"(hereinafter referred to as "IT Curriculum Standards")released by the Ministry of Education in April 2022 implies new requirements for the cultivation of the IT curriculum in China, and also implies that the cultivation of computational thinking, one of the core literacies of the subject, will also receive This means that the development of computational thinking, which is one of the core qualities of the subject, will receive more attention.Although the research on the cultivation of computational thinking in China has been on the rise in the past decade,it has focused more on the cultivation of computational thinking in university computer-related majors and less on the cultivation of computational thinking for students in compulsory education. Therefore, there is a need for a set of proven examples of effective graphical programming learning activities for the development of computational thinking,so that they can become an effective tool for front-line teachers to develop computational thinking.Based on this, this study will explore the question: Do the activities designed and implemented using the microproject learning approach in teaching graphical programming in upper elementary grades help to enhance students’ computational thinking? The study will conduct a case experiment with a design-based research approach and validate the effect. In order to integrate computational thinking into the teaching of information technology courses and help students develop computational thinking so that they can quickly integrate into the rapidly developing information society,as well as to provide a reliable practical grip for front-line teachers, this study first analyzes the current situation of domestic and foreign research on computational thinking cultivation through literature survey method and finds out the shortcomings in the cultivation of computational thinking in China.Afterwards,we analyzed the learning characteristics of upper elementary school students, and based on this,we used the micro-project learning method to design the learning process of graphical programming activities for upper elementary school students for the cultivation of computational thinking, and integrated the process into the The learning activities were integrated into the learning activities. In addition, this study used a design-based research approach to develop three rounds of design-based learning activities, containing three interrelated components: design, implementation, and analysis of learning effects.By analyzing the classroom observation sheets and student interviews after each round of practice, the learning activity process was continuously optimized and improved, and computational thinking assessment scales and computational thinking test questions were distributed before and after the three rounds of learning activities to finally summarize the experience on how to design computational thinking-oriented graphical programming learning activities for upper elementary grades. After the three rounds of learning activities, the analysis of the pre-and post-computational thinking evaluation scales and the pre-and post-computational thinking test questions revealed that students’ computational thinking skills were developed, which in turn proved that the computational thinking-oriented upper elementary school graphic programming learning activities had implicitly cultivated students’ computational thinking by integrating the five core elements of computational thinking with the graphic programming learning activities.
