Research On The Cultural Identity Of Miao Martial Arts

Miao martial arts in Huayuan County,Xiangxi Prefecture is an important part of Chinese culture,which not only reflects ethnic emotions and character,but also shapes identity through members’ daily cultural activities.Miao culture is a history of migration,a total of five major migrations,in the process of migration,martial arts play a huge role,so it is also naturally integrated into the life of the Miao people,becoming an indispensable part of the Miao memory.Over the years,scholars have done research on the Miao people from different angles,and this paper also uses the existing research results to study the cultural identity of the Miao martial arts in Huayuan County,because the identity not only highlights the martial arts technology,but also reflects a spiritual support,which is the identification of the multicultural identity of the Chinese nation and the belonging of its own ethnic culture,so this study uses the theory of cultural identity,and combs the historical origin of Miao martial arts based on literature review,logical analysis,interview,fieldwork and other methods.Analyze the value and significance of Miao martial arts cultural identity,reveal the development law of Miao martial arts culture,provide practical experience and theoretical basis for the sustainable development of Miao martial arts,and draw the following conclusions:First: Huayuan County,Xiangxi Prefecture,Miao martial arts are influenced by the geographical environment,social environment and human environment,combining local regional characteristics,ethnic characteristics and Chinese martial arts to form a traditional sports with regional characteristics.Second: Jinniu Village in Huayuan County is a village with a good inheritance of Miao martial arts in Xiangxi area,in response to the call of the state,Miao martial arts have entered Huayuan schools,such as Furong School,Border City Senior High School,etc.Third: Most of the production of Miao martial arts equipment is related to production labor,so there is also a high degree of recognition for martial arts equipment,which can be used as a labor tool,can also be used as a tool for killing enemies,and is people’s recognition of ethnic identity through the production of cultural symbols.Fourth: Miao martial arts techniques promote the formation of cultural identity through three levels: material culture,institutional culture and spiritual culture.Miao martial arts technology promotes cultural identity with material culture,that is,various martial arts equipment,martial arts routines,martial arts venues,martial arts clothing,etc.,which is the most basic and explicit level in the martial arts cultural structure system.With institutional culture,that is,various behavioral norms,organizational methods and competition forms,Miao martial arts form an orderly chain of regulations,and form Miao martial arts cultural identity and cognition through the connection between things;The spiritual culture layer is the core of martial arts culture,and it is the concentrated embodiment of people’s ideological concepts and beliefs.Through the above three levels of culture,the Miao martial arts identity is constructed.Fifth: Through living space,martial arts practice space,and intangible cultural heritage space,build the spatial identity of Miao martial arts.Through the emotional space generated in the process of learning martial arts with his uncle and the spatial construction of collective performances and members’ participation in the festival culture,the identification of martial artists with the community of Miao martial arts was further deepened.Through the choice of martial arts field space and cultural belief space,the chivalrous spirit and the spatial construction of martial virtue gate rules are shaped.Through the authenticity and innovative protection of the Miao martial arts space,the recognition of space culture has been further strengthened.Sixth: The shape of martial arts memories strengthens the community identity of people in Huayuan County.Through the expression of stories,the historical memory is awakened,so that the people in Huayuan County can closely link the ethnic cultural values with daily life,thereby generating a sense of belonging to the ethnic culture;With cultural symbols as the carrier,it maintains the emotional bridge and bond of the ethnic group;The spread of martial arts film and television has strengthened the cognition and recognition of Miao martial arts in the hearts of contemporary people.
