Children are the future of the country and the hope of the nation.The Party and the State have always attached great importance to the development of children’s cause.The number and area of community children’s homes are constantly increasing and the hardware facilities are gradually being improved,in addition,in terms of software configuration,the government has also started to try to involve social forces in the work of children’s homes by purchasing social services.This project was designed to meet the developmental needs of children in the community through the use of social work as a platform for children’s homes.As the project site was located in a suburban community,I was able to live in the community with the clients after work,so I was able to observe the community in detail.Based on a review of the relevant literature,I propose the proposition of "A study of social work embedded in children’s homes in suburban communities",based on a wealth of first-hand information and reflections obtained in the course of my practice.In order to meet the needs of children’s homes,we integrated the three major approaches of case,group and community social work,combined with social learning theory,Erikson’s eight-stage theory and the strengths perspective,and used community children’s homes as a platform to carry out social work services at the individual,family,community and school levels.The process of embedding social work in the children’s home,the effectiveness of the service and the relationship between the relevant subjects involved in the embedding process are analysed in depth.Based on the practical experience gained from the practical study,problems in the embedding are identified and adjustment strategies are proposed,and the theory and practice are continuously reflected upon to enrich the experience of social work embedding in children’s homes in the process of localisation.The study found that the social work theories and methods could be adapted to the needs of the children’s homes,and that the micro-,meso-and macro-systemic services for the children were effective and were recognised by the children,residents,community and higher authorities,leading to the renewal of the children’s home project for the next year.Social work casework with children can transform the focus on families in distress from the "absence of the state" to the "presence of the state".Group and community social work can help to remedy problems before they become conflicts,and can contribute to the development of children’s personalities and enhance their creativity,social skills,imagination and collaborative skills.Secondly,the process of social work embedded in children’s homes is also a process of community education.Unlike classroom education in schools,community education in social work,guided by its theories,stimulates the self-awareness of the clients,enabling them to observe their own environment and see the possibility of change.Finally,social work is not a solitary process;the organisation must also see itself as a whole,see its own environment,adopt positive action strategies for change,establish good relationships with different subjects,avoid administrativeisation and bring into play its own professionalism in order to achieve longer-term development. |
