Geography is a comprehensive subject,which has the characteristics of strong logic,tight spatial thinking and abstract conceptual rules.Especially,the physical geography module of senior high school involves a lot of abstract knowledge,which requires students’ higher image thinking and spatial imagination ability."Geography Curriculum Standards for Ordinary Senior High Schools(2017 Edition)" emphasizes students’ dominant position and autonomy in learning process,attaches importance to the cultivation of interest and active participation,and suggests that teachers should actively create conditions,cultivate an intuitive teaching environment,strengthen students’ spatial thinking training,and enhance students’ core literacy in geography.Factory-made teaching aids have the advantage of visual images,which can create an intuitive teaching environment and lessen the difficulty in understanding.However,with the popularization of information technology and the defects of factory-made teaching aids,such as fewer kinds,single style,slow update frequency and poor matching with teaching materials,many teachers are increasingly pursuing the use of information-based teaching aids for teaching,and putting away the physical teaching.Self-made teaching AID not only possess advantages,such as simple materials,lower cost,flexible design and strong pertinence,but also can overcome the disadvantages of factory-made teaching AIDS like their failure to keep up with the educational reform and the updating rate of the teaching content,lack of intuition of the information-based teaching AIDS and students’ weak sense of classroom participation.In addition,guiding students to participate in making simple teaching aids can not only enliven the classroom atmosphere,increase the interaction between teachers and students,enhance the feelings between teachers and students,and build a new relationship between teachers and students,but also greatly improve students’ hands-on ability,practical ability,cooperative ability and innovative ability.Therefore,this paper will study the application of geography self-made teaching AIDS in classroom teaching and its evaluation in teaching practices so as to provide new ideas for front-line teachers in teaching and evaluation.Guided by the reform of basic education,this paper summarizes the previous research results and the current research situation at home and abroad through literature research,defines the core concepts such as teaching aid,self-made teaching aid,geographical practical ability,etc.,and sorts out the theoretical basis of self-made teaching aid applied to classroom teaching.Using the case study method,the author takes two parallel classes of Grade One in Zhengzhou Zhengdong New District Foreign Language Middle School taught by the author as the research objects,select the changing process of the moon phase as the research case,and design a reasonable teaching plan and implement it in teaching;Through observation and comparative analysis,the classroom teaching effect of self-made teaching AIDS is tested from different dimensions.The main research contents of this paper are as follows:1.Through reading a large number of literature,the research background and significance of this paper are expounded,the research situation of teaching aids and self-made teaching aids at home and abroad is teased out,and the content arrangement,research methods and technical route of this paper are put forward.2.Define the concepts of teaching aid,self-made teaching aid and geographical practical ability,sort out the classification and characteristics of self-made teaching aid,sum up the role and significance of the application of selfmade teaching aid in geography classroom teaching,and explore the theoretical basis of the application of self-made teaching aid in geography teaching.3.On the basis of predecessors’ research results and their own teaching practice,the principles and methods of designing and making self-made teaching aids are put forward by combining teaching aid making with teaching progress and textbook content.Taking the changing process of the moon phase as an example,a geography teaching aid required for teaching is designed and made,and a relatively reasonable teaching process is designed and applied to senior high school geography classroom teaching practice.4.Through the teaching progress and classroom performance,the achievement effect of teaching objectives was judged,and the application effect of self-made teaching AIDS in teaching was tested in multiple dimensions by means of performance evaluation,paper-and-pencil test and questionnaire survey.The test results show that the application of self-made teaching AIDS in classroom teaching can stimulate students’ interest in learning,arouse students’ enthusiasm for learning,and greatly improve students’ participation in class.It is beneficial to the enrichment and development of teachers’ teaching methods and students’ learning methods,promotes effectiveness of teaching,and improves learning efficiency and teaching effect;It is conducive to developing intuitive teaching,making abstract knowledge intuitive,straightforward and vivid,weakening students’ "cognitive load" and reducing "cognitive friction",so that students can better understand and master geographical abstract knowledge;It is beneficial to improve students’ ability to act,improve their ability to explore the geographical phenomena around them,gradually master certain methods of observing,studying,analyzing and recording geographical phenomena,and explore geographical principles,thus forming their intrinsic will quality,thus improving their geographical practice.
