A Case Work Intervention Study On The Difficulty Of Spouse Selection Of Older Seafarers

With the development of China’s marine power strategy.Seafarers have become an important strategic resource of our country.The increasing loss rate of seafarers is a problem that can not be ignored in the healthy development of China’s shipping industry.Mate selection is a necessary stage for everyone’s marriage and an important task for seamen’s socialization in their youth,which is of great significance to their physical and mental health and the long-term stability of their families;It is more related to the construction of crew and the development of shipping industry.Because of the particularity of their occupation,seamen have difficulties in choosing a mate,which are different from those of ordinary young people.This study focuses on the difficulties of choosing a mate for older seamen,and intervenes in case work for older seamen who have difficulties in choosing a mate,so as to solve the problems and help them find their favorite partners.Under the guidance of dominance perspective theory and ecosystem theory,this research adopts the methods of observation,questionnaire survey and interview to explore the current characteristics of mate selection of older seafarers,the problems caused by the difficulty in mate selection and the causes of the problem.98 questionnaires are collected and six seafarers are interviewed semi structurally.It is found that the scope of mate selection is small and the way of mate selection is single,The current situation of low success rate of mate selection,the physical and mental health problems of older seafarers caused by difficult mate selection,the tension of family relations,and the dilemma of career planning are the three causes of the problems in society,occupation and individual.According to the causes of difficult mate selection,three cases of social reasons,professional reasons and personal reasons are selected among the older seafarers.The social work method is used to help the seafarers explore their own advantages,use internal and external resources,overcome difficulties and successfully find the desired object.At the same time,we need to improve the pertinence and professionalism of social workers to solve the problem of difficult mate selection,and combine group work and community work to achieve the goal of solving the problem of single group.
