Under the background of great changes in industrial structure and rapid updating of knowledge structure,a number of new disciplines have emerged. As subject learners, inheritors and innovators, postgraduates can really contribute to the development of disciplines only if they identify with their subjects from the heart.Based on Bandura’s theory of social cognition, this paper focuses on the graduate education of T University, and takes the postgraduate students in this newly established discipline as the research object, and analyzes the obstacles and causes of the group’s disciplinary identity by using semi-structured interview method. The results are as follows: the obstacles to the recognition of new disciplines are embodied in cognition and practice. On the cognitive level, some students have a vague understanding of the discipline research field, low recognition of the discipline training mode and doubt about the discipline organizational culture;on the practical level, some students have improper attitude towards scientific research, low participation in scientific research activities and low sense of discipline responsibility. The causes of these problems are complex. This is reflected in students’ learning attitude and ability, college and department training mode, discipline development level and social recognition.First, the difficulties encountered by postgraduates in the process of experiential learning,if not properly solved, will easily lead to learned helplessness and low self-efficacy.Under the negative influence of peer groups,it is also easy to produce negative slackness and even self-doubt;secondly,the imperfection of college and department training mode in enrollment, curriculum, teachers, resources, evaluation and employment guidance will also affect graduate students’ learning satisfaction, which will lead to their low degree of identity;thirdly, the low level of development of the discipline itself is the direct factor affecting the level of students’ subject identification.Students in this discipline will have obstacles in their academic identity due to the status differences between different disciplines. The last but not the least, the level of social identity of new disciplines is an indirect factor that affects the level of students’ discipline identity. The employment situation of students is not optimistic because the employers do not understand the new discipline, which leads to the decrease of subject identity. The complexity of the causes means the three-dimensional nature of the countermeasures. In order to improve students’ academic identity,it is necessary to coordinate with students, departments, disciplines and society. One is to urge students to be clear about their goals and strengthen themselves. We should not only give full play to the subjective initiative, form a strong sense of discipline responsibility, but also give full play to the positive effect of peer groups to create a strong discipline learning atmosphere.Second, the training of colleges and departments should coordinate the demand and optimize the supply. In the process of enrollment,we select high-quality students through structured interview, carry out entrance education according to students’ needs, and establish trust relationship to implement mutual selection of guided students. In the training process,we should improve the quality of the course, strengthen the guidance of tutors, connect the practical application and improve the system and material security. In the process of evaluation and employment guidance,we should pay attention to the diversity of assessment methods and strengthen the docking degree between students and employment posts or doctoral degrees.Third, the discipline itself should expand the knowledge reserve and improve the organizational structure.Through the development of subject knowledge to enhance students’ sense of discipline mission, through the improvement of organizational structure to enhance students’ sense of belonging to the discipline.Fourthly, the government and the social employing units should give strong support to the new disciplines in terms of discipline resources and employment posts. |
