| Graduate education is the highest level of China’s modern higher education,which has far-reaching significance for the cultivation of creative talents.In the face of social concerns and expectations,the current graduate groups in scientific research activities show a lack of enthusiasm and tend to delay the negative phenomenon: academic procrastination,that is,unnecessary delay or procrastination behavior in the process of academic completion.Postgraduates have more disposable autonomous learning time and are the masters of their own time.For everyone,there is no difference in the fixed 24 hours a day.Although there is a gap in scientific research ability,whether individuals can effectively use and manage their time will also affect the scientific research task The completion efficiency of the project.The academic procrastination of postgraduates is an important factor that restricts the realization of high-quality development of higher education.In this study,time management disposition scale,scientific research selfefficacy scale and academic procrastination questionnaire were used to explore the relationship among time management disposition,scientific research self-efficacy and academic procrastination of postgraduates.Based on the questionnaire survey of 508 postgraduates and the interview data of 16 postgraduates,the results are as follows:(1)In the survey group,92% of the graduate students have moderate or above degree of academic procrastination,and 17.9% of them have high procrastination tendency.In the survey of the trouble caused by procrastination,about 88.1% of the graduate students think that procrastination brings them more troubles.In the survey of desire to reduce procrastination,about 95.2% of people hope to reduce their procrastination behavior.Among the six academic tasks,postgraduates showed the highest degree of procrastination when reading academic documents,from high to low was writing term papers and assignments,publishing papers,writing graduation theses,and participating in various academic activities.When participating in tasks assigned by supervisors,postgraduates showed the lowest degree of procrastination.There is no significant difference in the degree of procrastination among postgraduates.(2)There is a significant negative correlation between academic procrastination and time management disposition and scientific research self-efficacy of postgraduates.There is a positive correlation between research self-efficacy and time management disposition of postgraduates.The self-efficacy of scientific research partially mediates the effect of time management disposition on academic procrastination.(3)Through qualitative interview research and questionnaire survey,it is found that the factors of Academic Procrastination of graduate students can be summarized as the interaction between pressure and motivation,and the antagonism between personality and environment.The external factors mainly include task difficulty,academic environment,academic support and external temptation,while the internal factors include learning motivation,pressure perception,personality traits and perfectionism. |
