| In the Work Regulations on Class Teachers in Primary and Secondary Schools,the Ministry of Education clearly pointed out,“class teachers who play an important role in primary and secondary schools,are the leaders of the healthy growth of students”.Accordingly,the teacher in charge of the class will be given preference in the professional title and evaluation.The newly issued Plan for Strengthening Teachers in Basic Education in the New Era also further emphasizes that the distribution of performance-related pay is inclined to the head teacher.However,at this stage,teachers’ unwillingness to be head teachers continues to rise,which makes schools in various regions often be in a passive state when appointing head teachers,and there is a shortage of head teachers.The teacher’s unwillingness to be a head teacher is actually a reflection of the teachers’ group emotions.From the perspective of emotional labor,this research takes the head teachers in S as the main research objects and attempts to investigate the job intentions and emotional management behaviors of the head teachers in primary school S,so as to understand the work of the head teachers at the emotional level.Through early research and later data collation,this study has the following findings:First,the emotional perception of the primary school head teachers on their posts is that they have accumulated miscellaneous things,are often upset,and have low willingness to serve.Behind this lies the high emotional labor characteristics of the primary school head teacher post: high requirements for emotional management,great challenges for emotional play and high consumption of emotional energy.Second,among these characteristics,the big challenge of emotional play,that is,head teachers of primary school pay a lot of extra effort to manage emotion,which is the crux of their high emotional labor and ultimately the phenomenon of unwilling to be a head teacher.It is inferred from the emotionmanagement behavior,of the head teachers of primary school and their interaction with their working surroundings,that the emotional management can be divided into three categories,suppressing emotion to adapt to emotional rules,showing emotion to ignore emotional rules,and avoiding self emotion to escape from emotional rules.Third the emotion management of head teachers of primary school will be affected by individual and external factors,which includes life experiences,organizational environment,career training,parents’ educational quality,and social environment,etc.In sum,the study gives some suggestions on relieving the emotional pressure of the primary school head teacher as well as improving the job intentionby taking advantage of the cooperation of individuals,schools and parents. |
