Mathematical modeling is a bridge linking theory and practice and it is an important goal of the new curriculum reform.Mathematical modeling is used to put mathematical knowledge into practical use in daily life, and implement the specific requirements of quality-oriented education in classroom.Considering the significance of mathematical modeling in modern education, students in senior high school need to be equipped with certain level of mathematical modeling ability. The author hopes that the teaching mode of task-driven cooperative learning can help students improve their mathematical modeling ability, enhance their capability of transforming the problems into those students have already learned, learn to grasp the key points of mathematical problems, and improve the efficiency of solving problems. The author selected some students from one of the key senior high schools in Shanghai as the object to carry out the research. This research mainly focuses on the following questions by carrying out the survey test, lesson designing and teaching practising:(1)How about students’ mathematical modeling ability? What are the biggest problems to solve?(2)What is the impact of task-driven cooperative learning on students’ mathematical modeling ability?(3)How do students recognize the teaching mode of task-driven cooperative learning? At the beginning of the research, the author concluded students’ cognitive status and the level of mathematical modeling through questionnaire and ability test, and on this basis, determined the teaching mode of task-driven cooperative learning, and wrote the teaching design of mathematical modeling course.Learning tasks and group learning were adopted in the process of teaching, which gradually made the teacher-centered teaching into studentscentered learning, and teacher-students cooperation into cooperative learning within students. Therefore, students experienced the complete mathematical modeling process from the shallower to the deeper, during which students’ mathematical modeling literacy have been cultivated. Finally, the evaluation and feedback of the students were collected through a questionnaire, and their mathematical modeling ability was tested again.Through data collection, questionnaire sorting and the comparison of the test results, the author found that the students were short of the awareness of mathematical modeling, lack of problem-solving consciousness and weak in modeling thinking, but using the teaching mode of task-driven cooperative learning help to improve the students’ consciousness in problem solving and mathematical application, and promote the development of mathematical modeling ability in subjects. In addition, the teaching mode of task-driven cooperative learning have received high recognition among the subjects and they are extremely willing to participate in activities in class, which may also be one of the reasons for the significant difference before and after. As a result, combined with the research conclusions, the author gives the following teaching suggestions:(1)Break through the limitation of textbooks and infiltrate the idea of mathematical modeling;(2)Use taskdriven orientation to promote the generation of modeling literacy;(3)Set real situations to improve the ability of problem solving;(4)Focus on the learning process and develop the ability of cooperative inquiry.
