| Effective communication between home and kindergarten can help families and kindergartens to form a synergy in education,create a good parenting environment and jointly promote the progress and development of children.Research on kindergarten teachers’ communication skills at home has been conducted mainly from the perspectives of kindergarten teachers,kindergarten managers and parents,but few researchers have studied kindergarten teachers at different stages of professional development.In this study,questionnaires and interviews were used to investigate the communication skills of trainee teachers,novice teachers,experienced teachers and expert teachers.The analysis of questionnaire and interview data presented the current state of kindergarten teachers’ home communication skills at different stages of professional development.The research study shows that trainee teachers have the lowest level of home communication skills and expert teachers have the highest level of home communication skills.The level of home communication skills of trainee teachers,novice teachers,skilled teachers and expert teachers increased step by step.The main problems in home communication among trainee teachers were: weak ability to use professional knowledge,weak understanding,lack of control,weak expression skills,lack of timely and proactive communication,lack of ability to think differently with parents,and lack of empathy.Novice teachers have problems with communication at home,including a need to strengthen their professional knowledge,weak emotional management,and the realisation that they are sometimes unable to "treat everyone the same".Problems in home communication between skilled and expert teachers include:not knowing how to communicate with ’special’ parents,being condescending to parents and pointing out problems directly to children.Finally,the following suggestions were made to improve the communication skills of kindergarten teachers at home:(1)Pre-service teachers: the training of pre-service teachers’ communication skills at home should be strengthened.(2)Trainee teachers: they should be more aware of the "assessment" of kindergartens;they should prepare well in advance for home communication.(3)Novice,experienced and expert teachers: to consolidate professional knowledge and develop a trusting relationship with parents;to use the "sandwich" principle and encourage rather than blame;(4)to strengthen parents’ awareness of communication with teachers.(5)Improve the management system of the kindergarten to give room for "true,good and beautiful" education to grow. |
