In recent years, affected by the COVID-19,students’ normal learning and life patterns have been disrupted, resulting in anxiety, depression and other emotions among some students. However, teenagers’ physical and mental development is unstable, their self-regulation ability is poor, and they are unwilling to seek professional psychological help. Therefore,it is the demand of the times to pay attention to these students’ depression problems and professional psychological help seeking problems.Researchers found that the incidence rate of depression among young people, especially junior high school students, has increased year by year, but the professional psychological help seeking rate has not increased significantly.Previous studies have proved that the stigmatization of depression by the public and their own depression are important factors that restrict them from seeking professional help.Depression also affects the process of public perception of depression stigma and internalization into individual depression stigma.A total of 560 junior high school students from 3 schools in Linyi,Jining and Liaocheng cities of Shandong Province were selected as subjects in the study. The data were analyzed using the Patient Health Questionnaire Depression Scale, the Depression stigma Scale, and the Attitude Questionnaire for Seeking Professional Psychological Help.SPSS was used for data analysis, and AMOS was used for confirmatory factor analysis,The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of the stigma of depression on the professional psychological help seeking attitude of junior high school students and the regulatory role of depression in this process.Research results:(1)There is no significant difference between junior high school students’ perceived stigma of depression and individual stigma of depression in demographic variables such as gender, place of origin, only child or not,and grade.(2)The junior high school students’ attitude towards professional psychological help seeking is significantly different in the place of origin and grade.Further analysis shows that the urban and junior high school students have the most negative attitude towards professional psychological help seeking.(3)The depression of junior middle school students is significantly different in gender, place of origin and grade.Further analysis found that female students, rural students and junior high school students had higher scores of depression.(4)Perceived depression stigma significantly positively predicts individual depression stigma.(5)Perceived depression stigma significantly negatively predicts professional psychological help seeking attitude.(6)The individual stigma of depression plays a part of intermediary role between the perceived stigma of depression and professional psychological help seeking attitude.Perceived stigma of depression can not only directly have a negative impact on professional psychological help seeking attitude, but also indirectly have a negative impact on professional psychological help seeking attitude through the individual stigma of depression.(7)The first half path of the mediation model of depression emotion regulation "perception of depression stigma-depression individual stigma-junior high school students’ professional psychological help seeking attitude" has formed a regulatory mediation model, that is,depression has buffered the impact of perception of depression stigma on individual depression stigma to a certain extent.Research conclusions: The higher the perceived depression stigma of junior high school students, the higher their individual depression stigma; The stigma of perceived depression of junior high school students will reduce their tendency to seek professional psychological help; The perceived depression stigma of junior high school students can directly or indirectly affect professional psychological help seeking attitude through individual depression stigma;Depression plays a regulatory role in the influence of depression stigma on professional psychological help seeking attitude, and high depression has a certain buffer effect on the intermediary effect of individual depression stigma. The results of this study have a certain enlightening effect on eliminating the stigma of depression and improving their professional psychological help seeking attitude.
