Stigma means that individuals have negative appraisal, negative emotional reaction and discriminatory behavior towards a specific group or its members in social interaction. In recent years, with the rapid increase in the number of patients with mental illness, the stigma of mental illness has gradually received social attention and attention.Among them, the number of patients with depression is constantly increasing, which makes depression one of the psychological diseases with relatively high social awareness.Studies have shown that different emotions have different effects on the activation level or application of stereotypes.Positive emotion will increase the activation or application of stereotype influence and increase the consistency between implicit stereotype attitude and explicit stereotype attitude. However, negative emotions will reduce the activation of stereotype and reduce the consistency between implicit stereotype and explicit stereotype. Therefore,it is necessary to explore the degree of stigma of depression and the influence of emotion on stigma of depression in the context of Chinese culture. On the basis of literature review,in the first study, three independent implicit tests SC-IAT and Semantic Difference Scale were developed to explore the implicit and explicit stigma of college students to depression patients. In the second study, the emotional priming experimental paradigm was used to explore the influence of different emotional valence on the activation of implicit stigma of depression and the relationship between implicit stigma and explicit stigma of depression.Through the above research, the following research results are obtained:(1)In the implicit stigma of depression, college students have negative implicit cognitive evaluation, implicit emotional response and implicit behavioral tendency towards depression patients; On the explicit stigma of depression, college students have negative explicit cognitive evaluation of depression patients, but show positive attitude in explicit emotional response and explicit behavioral tendency.(2)Positive and negative emotions have different effects on the activation level of implicit stigma in depression.Compared with negative emotion, positive emotion can increase the activation of implicit cognitive evaluation, implicit behavioral tendency and implicit emotional response in depression, and the difference is significant.(3)Positive and negative emotions have different effects on the activation level of explicit stigma in depression.Positive emotion increases the activation of explicit cognition than negative emotion, and the difference is significant.(4)Under the condition of emotion initiation, positive and negative emotions have no significant moderating effect on implicit stigma and explicit stigma of depression.
