When it comes to the arrival of new children in kindergarten,we often see a variety of situations arising for parents and children in small classes.Various factors such as children’s maladjustment, parents’ own mood swings, inappropriate content and methods of family education guidance in kindergartens, inadequate support from social policies and biased public opinion, etc.may lead to different degrees and types of anxiety among parents of small classes. The Decision on Optimising Fertility Policy for Long-term Balanced Population Development, which was considered and adopted during the 14 th Five-Year Plan of the State, proposes to further optimise the fertility policy and implement the policy that a couple can have three children and related supporting measures.More and more families will be joining the ranks of multi-child families. The group of parents of older children who have only one child or whose eldest child has just entered a small class and the group of parents of second children who have already gone through the period of their eldest child entering kindergarten and are accompanying their eldest child to kindergarten again are both growing. The difficulties, pressures and challenges faced by parents of second children are different from those experienced by parents of older children, and more researchers need to pay attention to and analyse these two groups of parents separately. This study focuses on the topic of "The Anxiety of Small Group Children".This study focuses on the anxiety of parents of older children and parents of second children in small classes.190 parents of older children and 120 parents of second children in three public kindergartens, totalling 310 people, were used as respondents. The main findings of the study are as follows: parents of older children and parents of second children have four main types of anxiety about entering kindergarten: anxiety about life, anxiety about education, anxiety about separation, and anxiety about the depressed environment.Parents of second children had higher levels of anxiety in the urgency category and parents of older children had higher levels of anxiety in the environmental depression category.Based on the current situation and differences in the anxiety of parents of small children and parents of second children, combined with in-depth interviews with parents and teachers of the two types of children, this study explores and analyses the possible causes of the differences in anxiety between parents of small children and parents of second children from the perspective of demographic factors such as parents’ age, income, education and occupation,as well as social and external factors of kindergartens, and finally suggests corresponding family education guidelines to alleviate the different types of anxiety of the two types of parents. The solution to the separation anxiety needs to be found in a variety of ways, with more opportunities and time for communication between the parents and the home,so as to relieve the parents’ separation anxiety by relieving the children’s anxiety;the education anxiety needs to be further improved through a multiple evaluation system of the children’s comprehensive literacy and attention to the parents’ special needs;and the life anxiety needs to be relieved through a variety of ways. The alleviation of anxiety in the category of missing life should focus on strengthening the quality of teaching and learning in kindergartens and training in childcare, improving the kindergarten health system and providing early guidance to parents on the transition between infancy and childhood.
