In recent years,Chinese population structure has changed,the aging of the population is serious,the supply of labor force is reduced,paying attention to the issue of female employment has obvious practical significance.There are many factors that affect female employment.Based on CFPS data from 2014 to 2016,this paper investigates the relationship between husband’s income and married women’s employment,discusses the moderating effect of gender role concept on husband’s income and women’s employment,and conducts heterogeneity analysis for different groups.The results show that:(1)the increase of husband’s income will significantly increase women’s overall employment,and there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between husband’s income and married women’s labor force participation.Taking the non-working group as the reference group,the increase of husband’s annual income will significantly increase the probability of formal employment of married women,and significantly reduce the probability of informal employment and non-work of married women.(2)The gender role concept of both women and their husbands has a significant negative relationship with married women’s employment.Taking the non-working group as the reference group,the husband’s traditional gender role concept significantly weakened the positive relationship between husband’s income and women’s overall employment and the negative relationship between husband’s income and women’s informal employment.(3)There is heterogeneity in the correlation between husband’s income and female employment with different education level,household registration and family structure.According to the research results,the following suggestions are put forward:at the government level,the gender wage gap should be narrowed,the legitimate rights and interests of irregular workers should be protected,the concept of equal gender role should be publicized and the level of female human capital should be improved;At the enterprise level,reduce gender discrimination in employment process,establish flexible working system,and provide equal training support and promotion channels for female employees;At the individual level,women should improve their human capital accumulation,and wives and husbands should change their ideas and attach importance to the equality of family status.Therefore,exploring the relationship between husband’s income and female employment will help the government to make precise policies according to different groups and promote the implementation of female employment policies,which is of great significance to improving the quality of female employment and safeguarding women’s rights and interests.
