Imitation among young children’s peers is a way for children to learn from each other. However, poor imitation behavior among children has become an important element in teachers’ daily classroom management that cannot be ignored, and regulating children’s poor imitation behavior is an important aspect of teachers’ classroom management. How to use reasonable classroom management strategies to guide children to improve their imitation behaviors and develop their social skills has become an urgent issue for front-line teachers. Therefore,in order to address the above issues, this study used four research methods:documentation, observation, interview, and grounded theory, and conducted observation and practice activities in kindergarten Y to collect rich field data.Based on the current situation presented by the observation records, the researcher interviewed 13 teachers in kindergarten Y and promptly coded the interview data at three levels to construct a theoretical model about classroom management strategies for middle class children’s poor peer imitation behaviors and proposed specific classroom management strategies based on the theoretical model. Finally, relevant practical activities were also carried out in kindergarten Y,and the practical effects were presented. The following conclusions were obtained from this study on classroom management strategies for poor peer imitation behaviors in middle childhood:First point:Pay attention to the conditions under which peer mimicry occurs in the middle class.Second point:A variety of classroom management methods are flexibly used:effective identification of problem behaviour:timely intervention, behavioural suppression, guiding children’s thinking and self-control,educational reinforcement, preventive measures, and mastering the degree of teacher ’grace’ and ’authority’.Third ponit:Keep an eye on the effectiveness of management and compare expectations.Point four:Reflect positively and promptly on management shortcomings before taking the next step.Point five:Strive to obtain the support of various elements of the home, school and social networks for teachers’ class management. This study explores effective classroom management strategies from the teacher’s perspective in a qualitative study to bring practical approaches to the daily classroom management of frontline early childhood teachers, thus helping children to continuously improve poor imitation behaviors among peers and contributing to their social development. |
