In recent years, the number of adolescents with mental disorders has been increasing and the suffering of patients should not be underestimated.Due to the imperfection of the current service system, the pressure and burden of caring for patients with mental disorders are mainly borne by families, and the dilemmas faced by the family system in this process and its coping methods have attracted academic attention and discussion.Guided by family resilience theory, this paper analyzes in depth the multiple dilemmas faced by adolescents with mental disorders, and further explores how their family systems can respond to the dilemmas and challenges from a proactive perspective, trying to analyze what role family resilience will play in their adaptation process. As a qualitative study, this paper used participant observation and interview methods to collect data from 16 interviewees, including 6 patients and 10 family members. The author coded and categorized the collected data, and then used narrative analysis to sort and summarize them, exploring the feelings and experiences of the family system in the fight against the disease from the interviewees’ narratives, and summarizing the presentation of their family resilience in various dimensions. It was found that the family resilience of adolescents with mood disorders is mainly reflected in three aspects:family belief system, family organization pattern and family communication process.Family beliefs are the core of family resilience, which determines the family’s attitude and way of coping with adversity and is the source of strength for the family to fight against the disease;family organizational model is the buffer for the family to face the impact, and the mutual trust among members, the atmosphere of tolerance and acceptance, and the presence of the central figure in the family support the family to operate and adjust in an orderly manner when facing adversity;family communication process is the foundation of family resilience. The family communication process is the foundation of family resilience, which can promote mutual support among members and influence the resolution of problems. For families of adolescents with psychological disorders, their positive experiences are the result of the dynamic interaction of family resilience.By summarizing the positive experiences of families of adolescents with mood disorders in their struggle with the disease, the author has identified the implications of these families’ experiences for social work services in the mental health field.
