Research On The Current Situation And Countermeasures Of Leadership Of Rural Junior High School Head Teacher

One of the most important aspects of the development of rural education is the improvement of rural teachers’ quality and ability.It indicates that the leadership of rural head teachers should also be improved.This paper studies the leadership of head teachers who are working in rural junior high schools by carrying out a questionnaire survey among 145 head teachers and conducting depth interviews with 6 principals and 12 head teachers from rural junior high schools in T County of X City.Aiming at improving the leadership of the head teachers in rural junior middle schools and make them more professional at work,it studies the present situation of the head teachers’ leadership,finds out the problems and analyses the reason and then put forward some effective strategies.According to the survey,the head teachers have the following problems in leadership: weak learning ability,insufficient teaching ability,poor decision-making ability,weak executive ability,limited organizational ability,and poor personal charisma.In view of above problems,the following reasons are discovered: firstly,the administrative department for education doesn’t pay sufficient attention to the head teachers’ leadership and offer enough training activities for the head teachers;secondly,the schools lack professional training and guidance,perfect evaluation mechanism of the head teachers,democratic management and harmonious interpersonal atmosphere;Finally,the head teachers lack leadership consciousness,professional literacy,reflective ability and personal charisma.After analyzing the reasons,the following strategies are put forward: the administrative department for education should pay more attention to head teachers’ leadership and build an online learning platform for the head teachers;the schools should provide more training activities and guidance,perfect the evaluation mechanism of head teachers,encourage them to take part in the school management and create harmonious interpersonal atmosphere;the head teachers should strengthen their leadership consciousness and improve their professional literacy,reflective ability and personality charm.
