Practical Research On Cultivating Students’ Scientific Essence Concept Based On HPS Education Concept

Abstract/Summary:
Our country is in a key stage of education reform.The new round of education reform emphasizes the implementation of biology core literacy in teaching,and the concept of scientific nature is the basis and guarantee of the core literacy.Understanding the nature of science not only helps students master scientific knowledge points,scientific inquiry methods and experience the spirit of scientists,but also promotes students to actively apply scientific knowledge to social life and experience the relationship between science and technology development.Scholars at home and abroad have proposed that the concept of HPS education can cultivate students’ view of the nature of science.On the basis of referring to the domestic and foreign literature on "HPS educational concept" and "scientific essence view",according to the relevant educational theories such as meaningful learning theory,through the questionnaire of scientific essence view and interviews with high school biology teachers,this study has mastered the current level of scientific essence view of high school students and the teaching implementation of HPS educational concept in high school.After sorting out the contents about HPS and the view of the nature of science in the compulsory textbooks of Senior high School Biology Academic Edition,taking Genes on Chromosomes and DNA as the main genetic material as examples,the teaching design and teaching practice based on the HPS educational concept are carried out.After the teaching practice,questionnaires were distributed to understand the students’understanding of the nature of science and the acceptance degree of HPS education concept among students in the experimental class.At the end of the semester,the questionnaire of Essentiality of science was sent out again for post-test,and the final scores of biology and post-test of essentiality of science were analyzed.Based on the analysis of HPS teaching practice and questionnaire survey,the following main research results are obtained:(1)The teaching mode based on HPS education concept is conducive to the improvement of students’ view of the nature of science.Through the analysis and comparison of the data measured before and after the experimental class and the control class,it is concluded that the students in the experimental class have significantly improved their view of the nature of science,and significantly deepened their understanding of the nature of scientific exploration and the nature of scientific undertakings.However,there is no significant difference between the experimental class and the control class in the essential dimension of scientific knowledge,which means that although the traditional teaching model has no significant effect on the cultivation of students’ overall view of the nature of science,there is no significant difference between the cultivation of students and the HPS teaching model in the dimension of the nature of scientific knowledge.(2)The teaching mode based on HPS education concept is conducive to cultivating students’ ability.to use knowledge.The nature of scientific knowledge helps students understand knowledge points;The nature of scientific exploration is conducive to cultivating students’ scientific thinking and knowledge application ability;The nature of the scientific career can stimulate students’ interest in biology.To sum up,the teaching mode based on HPS education concept can effectively cultivate students’ view of the nature of science.In view of the existing problems in biology teaching in senior high schools,combining the results of this study,the following suggestions on biology teaching are put forward:(1)To improve teachers’understanding of the nature of science view,which can be started from both teachers and schools.Teachers should strengthen their understanding of the concept of scientific essence and sort out the concept of scientific essence contained in textbooks,so as to carry out HPS education concept in biology teaching practice.Schools should provide help for teachers,promote teachers’ theoretical and practical understanding of the nature of science view in a targeted way,provide research platforms to promote teachers’ communication in different regions,and deepen their understanding of the nature of science view.(2)Improve the HPS literacy of teachers.Teachers should carry out teaching design based on HPS education concept based on the teaching purpose of cultivating students’ view of scientific essence.And in the implementation of the teaching design,pay attention to strengthen the communication with students,encourage students to actively express their views,to achieve the teaching goal of cultivating students’ view of the nature of science.
