Objective:This study explores the relationship between basketball intervention and high school students’ self-control and emotional stability through basketball intervention experiments on high school students,fits the model of self-control mediating between basketball intervention and emotional stability,and provides a reference for high school students’ emotional stability and related research.Methods:First,89 students in a high school senior year in Changzhou City,Jiangsu Province,were randomly divided into an experimental group(23 girls,20 boys)and a control group(22 girls and 24 boys)by using convenient sampling,and the experimental group implemented a moderate-intensity basketball exercise intervention program of 8 weeks,three times a week,each cumulative exercise time of 30 minutes(excluding preparatory activities and relaxation activities),and the control group conducted regular physical education classes.The "Self-Control Scale for Middle School Students" and the"Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(N Scale)" were used to measure before and after the experiment in the form of group measurements.Results:(1)8 weeks of basketball significantly promoted the emotional stability level of high school students[F(1,42)=62.39,P<0.001,η2p=0.598];Improvement of emotional selfcontrol[F(1,42)=14.24,P<0.001,η2p=0.253],thinking self-control[F(1,42)=8.50,P=0.006,η2p=0.168],behavioral self-control[F(1,42)=15.61,P<0.001,η2p=0.271],and overall selfcontrol[F(1,42)=28.52,P<0.001,η2p=0.404];(2)Basketball promotes the emotional stability of high school students through the mediating variable of self-control,and the mediating effect accounts for 40.58%.Conclusion:(1)Basketball intervention can promote the emotional stability of high school students and improve their self-control;(2)Basketball intervention can directly promote the emotional stability of high school students and indirectly promote emotional stability by improving their self-control.
