| Child care has always been the top priority of family intergenerational inheritance, affecting the family, the country and society,In our competitive society, many young parents do not have the time and energy to take care of their children due to social and economic pressures, and since childcare services in China do not meet the needs of most parents, seeking help from grandparents has become the choice of young parents. With the adjustment of the birth policy, the number of intergenerational caregivers has increased, and the time and energy spent on caregiving has also increased. In addition, the ideology of the elderly is changed under the influence of the changes of social environment and the implementation of the national active aging strategy, which is manifested as young mentality, active participation in society, and emphasis on the realization of self-worth,which often conflicts with the intergenerational responsibility in real life.Rather than being forced to participate in the care of their grandchildren and to put in more energy than they can carry, grandparents are eager to choose their own way of aging and to receive support and understanding from their families, which ultimately leads to negative emotions associated with themselves. This paper describes the author’s practical research on the use of casework to intervene in the negative emotions of grandparents in intergenerational care. The study used a questionnaire to understand the current situation of grandparents in intergenerational care in terms of their physical condition, family life, financial situation, and caregiving time, and then selected 10 suitable study participants and interviewed them to fill out an emotion scale, analyzed the data and summarized the current manifestations and causes of negative emotions of grandparents in intergenerational care.We designed an intervention plan based on the needs of the client, communicated with the client during the development and implementation of the plan, revised the plan according to the actual situation, and conducted follow-up interventions. Finally,we discussed the effectiveness of the intervention by going back to the whole case, discussing whether the desired effect was achieved, and reflecting on the reasons.Research findings,The main reasons for the negative emotions of the caseworker were helplessness, anxiety, and loneliness, which were mainly focused on three aspects, namely, personal:poor health, high caregiving intensity, reduced personal leisure time, high psychological stress, influence of irrational beliefs, and lack of ability;family:neglected caregiving wishes and intergenerational conflicts;and social:lack of external support.Based on the above analysis, the author conducted a case intervention with the client, aiming to alleviate her negative emotions and enhance her sense of well-being in life. |
