| The pressure of modern life and work has caused depression to become a widespread psychological affliction in our culture.A scientific understanding of depression and attitudes towards diseases can contribute to public health awareness and reduce discrimination and bias caused by misunderstandings and stereotypes.However,in some ethnic minority rural areas,there are deficiencies and biases in the cognition and understanding of depression.This article takes a Bai rural area in Yunnan Province as an example to understand the villagers’ cognition and coping styles towards depression through practical surveys.This study used the qualitative research method to conduct a month long field research in a Bai village in Yunnan Province.The survey used a combination of semi structured interviews and participatory observations to obtain data on the cognition of Bai ethnic villagers towards depression.The research object of this article is the disease concept of depression among the Bai ethnic group in Dali.It mainly investigates and analyzes the disease cognition,treatment concept,and prevention concept of depression from three aspects.It focuses on investigating the local ethnic characteristics of the Z village villagers’disease concept of depression under the background of the Bai ethnic society and culture,as well as their cognition and choice of treatment and prevention methods for depression.This is reflected in the villagers’ knowledge of depression,how to seek medical treatment and their tendency to seek medical treatment,whether to choose hospital treatment or ritual treatment,and what methods to use to prevent depression.The research results indicate that there is a cognitive bias in the cognition of depression among villagers in Z village,with most of them lacking accurate understanding of depression and insufficient understanding of treatment methods.At the same time,there are also misconceptions in the concept of prevention and treatment,and it is necessary to increase mental health literacy and improve its protective ability.On this basis,based on the survey results and combined with the social work profession,a series of suggestions were put forward:social work intervention should introduce more flexible and diverse methods of mental health promotion and education,improve the level of medical science and technology services,respond quickly,try to adopt more universal and culturally appropriate prevention and treatment methods,and promote a strong social support network,Improve the villagers’ psychological resilience and social support level,and build an effective medical linkage mechanism to assist the villagers in solving their mental health needs.In summary,this article aims to analyze the disease attitudes of Bai ethnic villagers towards depression and explore the current social work intervention space for ethnic minority depression attitudes.I hope to provide feasible supplementary solutions for social work services in this field through this study. |
