With the development of economy and the social transformation, the Chinese mental health problem is getting more and more attention from the society.According to the China national mental health development report(2017-2018),48 percent of respondents believed that people have serious mental health problems.Meanwhile, with the "biological-psycho-social" model, more and more attention has been paid to the social environment of patients with mental health problems. The research on mental health problems is not limited to a single biological function treatment, but to the direction of multi-disciplinary and cross-professional cooperation. As a professional service to help clients, social work can help clients with mental health problems from various aspects, link their resources and help them return to normal life.Furthermore, social work can not only serve people with mental health problems, but also help their families.Based on this, mental health social work was born.Furthermore, rumination refers to an involuntary, repetitive, and non-adaptive unconscious response to a difficult situation that can lead an individual to ruminate about negative events and negative emotions.Ruminant thinking has been shown to significantly predict negative mood such as depression, and individuals can reduce the effects of negative emotions by intervening and preventing ruminant behavior. In the development of positive psychology, positive rumination began to be discovered by scholars and distinguished from negative rumination. There is a gap in the meta-analysis of rumination and mental health in the systematic literature review. The relationship between rumination and depression has long been recognized, but there has been little research on other indicators of mental health such as anxiety or life satisfaction. In addition,as a new thing, positive rumination has few relevant literature, and the academic community has doubts about the difference between positive rumination and traditional rumination. In some studies, positive rumination also leads to increased levels of depression, regardless of whether the rumination is a negative event or a positive event. Therefore, this study aims to explore the correlation between ruminant thinking and mental health through meta-analysis and extensive collection of empirical research literature from various countries, and to provide reference for mental health social work.Through database retrieval and screening, this paper finally included 70 empirical studies from Asia,North America and Europe(129 effect sizes,81335subjects).The results showed that :(1)through subgroup analysis, age significantly moderated the relationship between positive rumination and positive indicators of mental health. And children and adolescents are most likely to improve their positive mood after active rumination, followed by adults.(2)the source area significantly adjusted the negative and positive indicators of negative rumination and mental health, and significantly adjusted the positive indicators of positive rumination and mental health. Those from Asia were most likely to have negative emotions after ruminating, followed by europeans and north americans.Positive emotions ranked first in Europe, second in Asia and last in North America. After positive rumination, positive emotions increased significantly in Asia, followed by Europe and last in North America.(3)it was found by meta regression that gender significantly regulated the negative rumination and mental health indicators, while gender significantly regulated the positive rumination and mental health indicators. That is,after experiencing negative rumination, women are more prone to negative emotions; And after experiencing positive rumination, women were also more likely than men to have a positive mood boost.(4)among the moderating variables of age, children and adolescents are most likely to be affected by the positive indicators of mental health in either negative rumination or positive rumination.(5)the subjects from Asia were the most susceptible to ruminant thinking and the most sensitive in the results, while the subjects from North America were the least sensitive. |
