In 2022,the Ministry of Education promulgated the Chinese Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition),which for the first time put forward the concept of "whole book reading learning task group" in the compulsory education stage,formally connecting it with the whole book reading learning task group in high school.At the same time,it also marks the complete establishment of the thought of "reading the whole book" in the Chinese curriculum system.The thought of "whole book reading" has a long history in Chinese language education,which can be traced back to the Chinese traditional language education,after the interpretation and development of many modern scholars formed "read the whole book" education concept,and was finally implemented in Chinese language curriculum system through curriculum documents.The 2022 edition of compulsory education curriculum standard makes "whole book reading" more orderly,rational and inclusive in the design of "whole book reading task group" in junior middle school.Meanwhile,it also puts forward higher teaching requirements for the section of "introduction to classics" in junior middle school textbooks,which no longer focuses on the guidance of reading methods,but pays more attention to the overall grasp of books.By guiding students to read the whole book with a variety of reading methods in real Chinese practice activities,it helps students to complete the shaping of core qualities in diversified teaching activities,and to some extent alleviates the problems of fragmentation of reading and separation of reading activities from real life.In the current unified compilation of junior high school Chinese textbooks,the corresponding section of "reading the whole book" is "introduction to Classics",which organizes the course content in the form of a special topic,which is helpful for students to expand reading and exercise reading ability.However,it also has the disadvantage of emphasizing the guidance of reading methods rather than the guidance of reading the whole book,which has an enlightening effect on the later compilation of textbooks.The reasons for the poor effect of students’ "whole book reading" are multiple,including schools,teachers,students and families,which mainly show the lack of understanding of "whole book reading",students’ low interest in reading,teachers’ utilitarian teaching,parents do not pay attention to and so on.For the teaching of "whole book reading" in junior high school,teachers should make great reference to the teaching experience of the whole book reading in senior high school,design diversified learning tasks,attach importance to the whole process of students’ reading,and carry out reasonable teaching evaluation.For students,they should learn to make reading plans,take the initiative to read excellent works,reflect on the reading process,and improve their aesthetic taste.
