Study On The Living Conditions Of And Social Services To Construction Migrant Workers In Jinan

With the continuous improvement of urbanization and modernization in China,more and more migrant workers are entering cities,making huge contributions to the economic and social development of cities.Among them,migrant workers in the construction industry have attracted much attention due to their large number,large contribution,and difficult living and working conditions.This article takes migrant workers in the construction industry as the research object.Through analyzing 172 valid questionnaires randomly selected from 5 construction sites in Huaiyin District,Jinan City,and conducting semi-structured interviews with 20 migrant workers,it is found that migrant workers in the construction industry currently face long working hours,high survival pressure,low cultural level,single labor skills,low work income,low quality of life,few cultural and entertainment activities,and monotonous spiritual life,Difficulties in work and life,such as less companionship with children,inadequate education,low sense of self-identity,and difficulties in integrating into the city.The survival dilemma of migrant workers in the construction industry means that their labor rights and interests are damaged.Social services are a necessary means to implement policies and regulations and protect the labor rights and interests of migrant workers in the construction industry.This article finds through research on the demand and supply of social services for migrant workers in the construction industry that there are basic and developmental needs for social services,including employment and labor protection services,housing security services,social security and public health services,rights protection services,vocational and technical training,education for underage children,and spiritual and cultural services.This article analyzes the current satisfaction of the social service needs of migrant workers in the construction industry from three aspects:the content of social service supply,the main body of social service supply,and the effectiveness of social service supply.It is found that the social service needs of migrant workers have been met to a certain extent,but there are still significant shortcomings.Finally,under the guidance of welfare pluralism and social support theory,this article points out that improving social services for migrant workers should adhere to the principle of government leadership and a combination of multiple subjects from the perspective of welfare pluralism,as well as the principle of formal social support as the main focus from the perspective of social support theory,comprehensively meeting the social service needs of migrant workers.On this basis,Further propose three countermeasures and suggestions to improve the social service level of migrant workers:take the government as the lead,strengthen policy guarantees and regulatory efforts,fully protect the rights and interests of workers in employment enterprises,and actively accept and do a good job as service carriers in communities.
