| In the context of social transformation, the divorce rate in China is gradually climbing and the number of single mothers is increasing.Scholars have shown that divorced single mothers who suffered the shock of a failed marriage may have emotional problems such as anxiety, loss, depression, loss of self-confidence in themselves, low self-evaluation,low self-worth and low self-esteem level. In addition, they may also face difficulties in parent-child relationship and family relationship, which will not only seriously affect the psychological health and normal life of divorced single mothers, but also cause a series of psychological and behavioral problems in children of single-parent families, leading to more parent-child conflicts, intensifying family conflicts and triggering a series of negative consequences,if not relieved in time. The therapeutic beliefs of the Satya model believe that everyone has the inner resources to cope and grow, and that we can change the impact and influence of past events that have already happened to us.However, most of the studies that have applied the Satya model have focused on various student groups and special populations, and the application of the Satya model in the field of single-parent families has focused on parent-child relationships and children’s psychological problems, and less on single mothers’psychological conditions, and few studies have applied the Satya model to enhance the self-esteem level of divorced single mothers. This study takes a divorced single mother and her family as the research object, and relies on the theories and tools of the Satya model to carry out social work interventions through professional methods and practical skills. This study adopts the research framework of action research, which includes five stages:problem diagnosis and definition, action plan development, action plan promotion, problem reassessment, and research findings and learning from them. The researcher first understands the basic situation of the clients, collects information about the clients through interview method, observation method and scale method, anticipates and analyzes the problems and needs of the clients, formulates the service plan, carries out the six stages of intervention action using the Satya model, and continuously conducts research during the intervention process, continuously improves the intervention service during the research process, and then evaluates and reflects on whether the whole course of action is feasible and effective. This study finds that the Satya model is feasible and effective in raising the self-esteem level of divorced single mothers and that the Satya model is applicable in raising the self-esteem level of divorced single mothers. The personal iceberg technique can help clients to realize their unmet expectations and aspirations and achieve self-connection;the sculpture technique enables clients to visualize the relationship patterns within the family and to realize their poor communication postures;the interaction component intervention technique can help clients to change their defensive interaction habits, connect themselves, others and situations in a healthy way,and master the consistent communication style;the temperature reading technique effectively enables clients to self-affirm,integrate their inner resources and improve their self-esteem level.By analyzing the process of intervention, this study reflects on the impediments of the Satya model in this process and proposes measures to eliminate the impediments of clients to social work intervention, relationship building with clients, and the use of tools and techniques, including:for the problem that the exploration level is low and difficult to dig down in the process of iceberg exploration, social workers can combine the sharing of social workers’ self-cases and use paper and pen to conduct actual exploration demonstrations;for the problem that survival coping postures may meet the characteristics of multiple types and cannot be simply categorized, social workers can jointly analyze with clients to select survival coping postures that roughly match;for the problem that family sculpture is effective immediately but lacks long-term effectiveness, social workers should strengthen the guidance of the situation and repeatedly use the sculpture technique in the intervention to establish a long-term mechanism of self-monitoring and mutual monitoring. In addition, this study abstracts operational models with generalities from the insightful analysis of this specific case, and eventually explores the operational model of using the Satya model to enhance the self-esteem level of divorced single mothers, providing preliminary,non-systematic exploration experiences for subsequent systematic studies. |
