In January 2022,with the introduction of the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Promotion of Family Education, family education was elevated from a family matter to a national matter, and parents and guardians have a legal obligation to provide quality family education for their children. As family-oriented mobility becomes mainstream, the number of migrant children living in cities with their parents will continue to increase.Studies have shown that migrant children are disadvantaged in many aspects of their development, including schooling, mental health, social integration and family education. How to improve the role-playing skills of parents of migrant children in family life and prevent a series of problems for migrant children has become a topic that social workers should pay attention to and consider.Compared to ordinary urban families, migrant families are often faced with many difficulties in their parental role practice due to the constraints of their own literacy level, economic conditions and social integration level. This paper attempts to explore the "dilemmas" and "solutions" of the parental roles of migrant children. The study was guided by social role theory. The study found that the role dilemmas of parents of migrant children mainly included unclear role recognition, insufficient role-playing ability, role conflict, role mismatch and fatherhood absence. In terms of role needs, parents of migrant children have the need to change their role perceptions,to enhance their role competence,to increase their role confidence and to create a supportive external environment. It is difficult to avoid role dilemmas in any social role. The key is to minimise role dilemmas through role adjustment in order to achieve the desired effect of role reconciliation.Similarly, there are many ambiguities and conflicts in the roles of parents of migrant children, which need to be addressed through effective tools. The casework approach is based on the principle of’individualisation’,which makes it easier to gain the trust of the client and provide tailored service solutions, and is an effective way for parents of migrant children to alleviate their role dilemmas and to adjust their roles. Therefore, based on the analysis of the role dilemmas and needs of parents of migrant children, the author selects a typical case for case intervention, starting from two aspects of self-adjustment and social adjustment. In terms of social adjustment, the external environment was optimised to provide the necessary resources and information. From the process and outcome evaluations,it can be seen that the casework social work service has a positive effect in guiding parents of migrant children to play their parental role effectively. |
