Practical Research On Improving The New Campus Adaptation Of Graduate Students By Social Support Network Construction

In recent years,universities with multi-campus have developed rapidly.Since graduate students need to change their campus to continue their study,it is of great significance to solve their adaptation problems to the new campus.This study takes the graduate students transferred from the headquarter to the new campus of H University,a multi-campus university in Northeast China,as the research subjects,explores the effectiveness of social support network construction on their adaptation to the new campus.Adaptation problems of the graduate students transferred from the headquarters to the new campus of H University are investigated by using methods of survey and interview.The survey results show that the graduate students of H University are uncomfortable with the new campus in the aspects of living,interpersonal interaction,learning and mental health,and the overall adaptation level is low.The reason for that is related to the fact that the new campus of H University is still in the stage of improvement,the graduate students have a certain psychological stress response to the new environment,and they have no motivation to adjust their changing interpersonal relationship.In view of the adaptation problems and the causes for these,a model of promoting the adaptation of the new campus of H University with the construction of social support network is proposed,and a typical case is selected to be intervened with this mode.In the intervention,the social worker establishes a stable and equal professional relationship with the case,and links various resources for the case: strengthen her relationship with the teachers and classmates of the headquarter;help her make new classmates and friends in the new campus to establish new peer group support;encourage her to participate in interest groups to expand her social circle;and help her find and use proper ways to communicate with the authorities of the new campus.After the intervention,the intervening effect is evaluated by the scale measurement between post-test and pre-test and the interview with her friends,family members and classmates.The results show that social support network construction plays a significant role in improving the new campus adaptation level of the case,and it is feasible to improve the adaptation level of the graduate students transferred to the new campus with social support network construction.
