Among the cross-cultural studies on human learning,the most common ones are those about students’ learning ability,preparation or process.These studies mainly observe learning from the outside of students,but pay less attention to students’ own understanding of learning.In this study,the grounded theory research method was adopted to collect 439 high school students’ compositions--Ideal Learners in My Heart.Then,the researcher used Nvivo12 to carry out qualitative coding for them,and further analyzed the coding content.This study believes that students’ description of ideal learners reflects learners’ views on learning and its process,namely,students’ learning beliefs.These learning beliefs reflect learners’ perception and understanding of learning,and profoundly affect their holders’ learning attitude and learning style.Through the coding analysis of students’ compositions,the researchers analyzed the beliefs about learning from the perspective of high school students.It is found that under the dual influence of Chinese traditional culture and western educational thought,Chinese high school students’ learning beliefs present a unique learning belief model consisting of three dimensions of virtue,skill and cognition.At the same time,researchers have obtained the basic structure system of learning beliefs: students’ beliefs about learning motivation,students’ beliefs about learners’ external performance,students’ beliefs about learners’ internal characteristics,and students’ beliefs about learning strategies and methods.On this basis,this study further discusses the mechanism of the learning belief model,and finds that the motivation of virtue is achieved through the action strategy of self-cultivation,self-discipline and integration of knowledge and action.Cognitive motivation is achieved through the action strategies of absorption,thinking and practice.Positive psychological adjustment mechanism runs through the whole process of learning.Finally,based on the profound analysis of the basic structure and mechanism of learning belief,the researcher gradually clarified the characteristics and existing problems of high school students’ learning belief: the influence of the traditional concept of "moral worship";The entry of western "cognitive" orientation;The misunderstanding of knowledge learning and artistry.This study puts forward some useful educational guidance strategies: carry forward the traditional virtue belief,highlight the Chinese educational characteristics of "cultivating people by virtue";Stimulate the formation of correct cognitive belief and guard against the artificalization of knowledge learning;Guide the formation of learning belief of rational virtue and exert the regulating function of psychological mechanism;Return to the role of the development of skills,set up the education concept for the training of comprehensive talents.
