Research On The Influence Of Urban Population Mobility On Enterprise Innovation

Innovation driven development strategy has become the core strategy related to the long-term development of the country.Enterprises are the main body of innovation.The improvement of their innovation ability is of great significance to the formation of their own competitiveness and national innovation driving force.Enterprise innovation has the characteristics of large investment,long cycle and high risk.When carrying out innovation activities,enterprises often make comprehensive and careful consideration based on the market environment and their own situation.According to the data of China’s seventh national census,China has a total floating population of 376 million,accounting for 26.6% of China’s total population.The large-scale population flow has had a far-reaching impact on China’s urban development and a huge impact on the economic structure of each city.Does population mobility have an impact on enterprise innovation?What is the impact? It is worthy of further study and discussion.By combining theoretical analysis and empirical analysis,while studying the relationship between population mobility and enterprise innovation,this paper makes an empirical study on the intermediary role of urban migration pressure and the regulation role of urban consumption level.This paper firstly reviews the theoretical basis of population mobility and enterprise innovation,and then analyzes the relationship between urban population mobility and enterprise innovation,the internal transmission mechanism and influence mechanism of population mobility and enterprise innovation,and proposes the research hypothesis of this paper based on the analysis.With all prefecture-level cities and all A-share listed companies in China from 2012-2019 selected as the research object,this paper uses Python software to match the annual micro data of listed companies with the annual macro data of each prefecture-level city,uses a fixed-effects model to test the impact of urban population mobility on enterprise innovation,and further explores explored the intrinsic transmission path played by urban migration pressure between urban population mobility and enterprise innovation as well as the moderating role of urban consumption level on the relationship between urban population mobility and enterprise innovation;finally,the robustness of the research results of this paper was ensured by endogeneity treatment as well as robustness test.The conclusions show that:(1)urban population mobility has a significant role in promoting firm innovation.(2)Urban in-migration pressure hinders firm innovation in the city.(3)Urban mobility promotes firm innovation by reducing the in-migration pressure in the city.(4)Urban consumption level plays a negative regulatory role in the relationship between urban population mobility and enterprise innovation.Combining the theoretical analysis and consideration of the empirical findings,this paper puts forward relevant policy suggestions to provide reference for the formulation of relevant policies in China.This study is a supplement to the research on the factors affecting enterprise innovation,and provides a theoretical reference for the micro enterprise decision making in China,and provides theoretical support for the reform of registered residence system in China.
