| Consumption is the ultimate demand, which is of great significance to the realization of a better life for the people and to the country’s economic and social development.Based on this, this article first combed the domestic and foreign related research literature on population mobility and urban agglomeration consumption levels. Then,it analyzes the current situation and temporal and spatial characteristics of population flow and urban agglomeration development in my country. Then, this article makes a preliminary discussion on the mechanism by which population movement affects the consumption level of urban agglomerations. On this basis, taking into account the availability of data, this paper uses the population and consumption data of 167 cities included in 11national-level urban agglomerations from 2009 to 2018,and uses the spatial Dubin model to conduct empirical research.Through analysis, this article draws the following main research conclusions:First, due to factors such as location, population, economy, etc.,there are corresponding differences in the consumption levels of various urban agglomerations. In general, the overall, interval, and regional differences in the consumption levels of urban agglomerations are shrinking year by year.It can be seen that the consumption difference in each urban agglomeration area has always been the main source of the overall difference, and the contribution rate has exceeded 60% over the years, and it has gradually increased over time.Second, from the perspective of the spatial correlation of consumption,as a whole, the urban consumption level has a significant positive spatial correlation, and it shows a trend of first decreasing and then increasing. From a local perspective, cities with high and high consumption levels are mostly distributed in the Yangtze River Delta,Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hubao Eyu urban agglomerations, and cities with low and low consumption levels are mostly distributed in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. In the urban agglomerations in the western region, there are many high and low areas, such as Chengdu,Lanzhou,Xi’an,Zhengzhou, etc.Third, population mobility has a significant role in promoting the growth of urban consumption.Population mobility can not only promote the improvement of the consumption level of the city, but also the radiation effect of population mobility, which will drive the growth of consumption levels in surrounding cities.Population mobility improves urban consumption levels by promoting the upgrading of urban industrial structure. The upgrading of industrial structure has a partial mediating effect on population mobility to promote urban consumption growth.Fourth, the effect of population movement on the consumption level of urban agglomerations is heterogeneous in different regions.Specifically, population movement has no significant impact on the consumption level of the central urban agglomerations;it has a significant promotion effect on the consumption level of the eastern and western urban agglomerations, and it has a greater effect on the west than in the east. The possible innovations of this paper are mainly reflected in: First, starting from the national-level city clusters,it studies the consumption differences between cities within the city clusters and among the city clusters;Second, from a spatial perspective, the spatial correlation of the consumption level of urban agglomerations is examined, and the direct spatial effects, spatial spillover effects and total effects of various factors that affect the consumption level of urban agglomerations are studied, providing a spatial perspective for studying the consumption problems of urban agglomerations;Third, from a spatial perspective,it analyzes the mechanism and effect of population mobility on the consumption level of urban agglomerations, and reveals the spatial information implicit in the interaction between population and urban consumption. |
