Labor creates human society and education accompanies human society.Since its unique function has transcended its own socio-political and economic system,labor education not only exists in feudal society and capitalist society,but also exists in socialist society as a solid theoretical foundation.Elevating the combination of education,productive labor and social practice to labor education,and establishing the educational goal of “five educations”,namely,integrating morality education,intelligence education,physical education,aesthetic education,and labor education,are the new requirements of the new journey of the new era for contemporary people.However,from the perspective of reality,there are misunderstandings toward labor education in our society,and some erroneous concepts and values of labor as well as concepts of labor education which completely deviate from the meaning of labor education itself,and labor education urgently needs to return to its nature theoretically and practically.This article re-examines the concept of labor education and explores the relationship between labor education and morality education,intelligence education,physical education,aesthetic education from logical to practical perspectives under the principle of the unity of goal-oriented,problem-oriented and effect-oriented methods.By combing through the concepts of labor education of Marx,Engels and Lenin,Chinese traditional culture,as well as of the leaders of the Communist Party of China since the founding of People’s Republic of China,the author seeks to unveil the theoretical basis of the generation of the concept of labor education in the new era,and clarify the basic connotation of labor education and its functional positioning,interaction and practical requirements in the “five educations”.Finally,from a macroscopic point of view,how to build a labor education system in the new era,and,the practical path of strengthening labor education in the new era and building a new pattern of “five educations” is discussed according to the relevant research results,aiming to construct a labor education system to help young teenagers in the new era establish a correct concept of labor education so that labor education can be truly implemented and the role of setting high moral values and cultivating people can be better played.Labor education determines the mental status,values and skills of socialist builders and successors,which makes its importance self-evident.Therefore,it is of great significance to grasp the connotation of labor education and excavate the institutional mechanism for the organic integration of labor education and moral,intellectual,physical and aesthetic education in order to accelerate the construction of a socialist educational model with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
